  1. Just called admissions for confirmation.  All Ed.L.D. interview invitations have gone out.  I wasn't one of the chosen few.  Surprised no one on this thread got one.  All of the credentials shared were great, but then who am I to say what they wanted.  Best of luck to everyone in all of your endeavors.  Thanks for sharing and allowing me to vent!

I have been having a very spirited conversation with God about my plans for the Ed.L.D. program, lol!  I'm sure I'm a comedian in his eyes.  You never know...the second time may still be a charm for you.  If it makes you feel any better, there are people who have applied two and even three times before gaining admission to the program.  Keep the faith.

Thanks! I guess it would be nice to know where I came up short. That way I'll be able to make an informed decision about trying again. I'm sure my test scores are a hindrance, but I don't see how they should be considered an indication of academic ability.

  3. Hi there guys! The fact that I keep checking this thread must mean something! This was my second try. I'm not getting any younger, but am at a point where this program would fit in my life. I have heard it said that, "If you want to make God laugh tell him your plans". I have even gone so far as looking at housing and found a place that is just right for me. Oh well, maybe I'll try one more time. The third time may be the charm!

  4. I have two graduate degrees and several years of experience. I'm sure my references were good. I thought my essays were sound as well. GRE scores not fabulous, but have a high gpa. I guess those chosen were best all round.

  5. Said I was going to give it until tomorrow, but considering the hour here, and no email, I am not one of the chosen few. All things considered, I'm not surprised. Best wishes to the fall 2016 Ed.L.D. cohort.

  6. Since email is the mode of delivery you would think that someone on this thread would have heard something. I don't think they have sent out the Ed.L.D. invitations. Maybe some other programs have. I'll give it until the 12th, then I'll let go of the idea of Harvard.

  7. After reading this tread, I had concluded my chance of even getting an interview was between slim and none! Now I'm sure of it!! Best wishes to everyone who has the high GRE scores. Mine suck!!! Based on the above posts that is the first point of elimination.

  8. Please, pardon any confusion I my have caused by my recent post. For some reason, the admissions rep. I spoke with called me this afternoon. I was driving and almost slammed on brakes. Anyway, she called to correct what she told me. Interviews are in person!! She must have to record the name and number for all calls. I'm glad there has been clarification, and again I beg your pardon!!

EDLD interviews will be via Skype? That is the first time I have heard that. I thought there were group and individual portions on campus for two days? Is this new?

When I called I told the representative I had applied for the Ed.L.D. program.  She told me the interviews would be via Skype.  I believe the point she was trying to make was that there would be one less thing to worry about; having to travel to Cambridge.  For personal reassurance, please call the admissions office.

I don't think EdLD people get any financial aid. There is an automatic stipend plus tuition covered, so you won't get any additional aid. (Unfortunately, since the cost of living in Boston/Cambridge is astronomical).

Thanks! I'll have to come up with plans B and C.  Getting in is the hard part, and hopefully I'll do that.  Where there is a will, there is a way! Also, I found out through admissions that interviews will be via Skype.

Oh... That sounds scaaaaary... Please someone say that it does not cast too many clouds on the experience! And that you can live on campus. I would love that.

It is my understanding that there is on campus housing available for graduate students. I would like to live off campus so my spouse can visit.  Also, I think I would do better off campus and living solo.

  12. That is why I asked about financial aid. I personally do not have substantial savings or relatives with deep pockets.  My spouse will remain in VA and maintain our home here. I expect to find some form of part time work.

  13. That may be so, but there is a need to be able to live in Cambridge.  The package does not provide enough to live in decent housing.  I would prefer to not live in a whole in the wall.  I am simply trying to seek clarification like everyone else on this thread!

  14. Just looked at the results page. Only saw interviews or acceptances for STEM type majors. If Ed.L.D. interviews aren't until late February, it probably will be another week before they contact applicants.

The interview dates are February 25 and 26th. We'll hear in about two weeks most likely. (The interview dates are on the website somewhere. I did a lot of digging). I haven't heard anything except for a confirmation email that my materials were in on Jan 5. Ahhhh i just want to know. Especially since I have a charity gala on the 27th so I need to know if I'm flying back that day and how to plan, etc.

Thanks! I'm trying to stay positive. My getting in is a long shot, but I gamble a little!

i have summit-ed my application for HGSE 2016 ED.M program as well! Received an email which says that application is completed. Receive the financial aid email as well. I am an international student, I read somewhere that there was as quota for international students, is this true? is anyone aware?

I would consider the source.  If it wasn't provided by the school, don't regard it as fact.  Unless some of the forum participants are HGSE staff we are all in the same boat.  Guessing!!

"Once all applications have been reviewed, HGSE will invite selected Ed.L.D. applicants to campus for a day of required interviews (both individual and group) with members of the admissions committee. Interviews will take place in late February 2016."

Do you know when they provide notification? Just wondering how much time they allow for making arrangements,

  18. Has anyone applying for the Ed.L.D. program heard anything?  I don't have anything bad on mine, but does anyone know if social media is checked as part of vetting applicants?  Also, does anyone have an idea when interviews generally take place?

The only way to definitely not get in is to not apply :)  You NEVER know what they might see in you, and if it's something you're passionate about, and they can see that, anything is possible.  I know that sounds trite but having read HGSE and other top notch schools' previous years' threads, it's clear that people with so-called underwhelming credentials can get accepted.

Thanks, Heather1011!! I appreciate the encouragement! I applied and really want to get in. I am a late bloomer, who finally realizes what she wants to be. I know that I am capable, and ready to give it my all!

  20. After reading this thread, I have determined that    my chances of getting into the EdL.D program are between slim and none. My credentials are no where as pristine as those posted on here. Best of luck to each of you!
