  1. Hi everyone! I'm in Toronto (Etobicoke) and my letter arrived today. I was successful, with a score of 16.2/20 on Committee 2. Last year I scored 10.8/20 on the same committee and was (obviously) not successful. The only difference in my application this year was a reference letter from someone new, an OGS and some other awards, a publication that changed from forthcoming to published, and a few minor tweaks fleshing out the contemporary relevance of my work. All the core content remained the same. Something kind of interesting: The envelope I received last year informing me I was not successful was small, but the one I received this year was "booklet" sized. It might be because the letter comes with a Notice of Award breaking down the amount/year and is on legal-sized paper. I don't know if this means anything, but I thought I'd share it with you all anyways. Best of luck to everyone still waiting!
  2. Hey, current PhD at UofT. Message me if you have any questions!
  3. Hey, current PhD at UofT. Message me if you have any questions!
  4. If you have any questions about Queen's I just finished my MA there!
  5. Just got accepted to Western! (PhD)
  6. I emailed them and the graduate chair let me know that they are meeting tomorrow to discuss applications. He also said that since I emailed, he could rush my application and let me know by 3:30 tomorrow if I was in or not. It might be worth it to you to get in touch! Also, there was a UWO acceptance posted yesterday but I literally just spoke to the grad chair who said they haven't even met… Weird.
  7. Does anyone know what's going on with Western? As far as I know it's been radio silence… I've been accepted to UofT (and am 99.9% sure I will be accepting as it's always been my top choice) but I'm hesitant to formally accept until I know. There's a deadline at UofT that's fast approaching so I'm half tempted to just email them but I thought I'd ask first.
  8. Congratulations!!! Fingers crossed!
  9. I was accepted to U of T today around 5pm. I could not be happier!
  10. Trying to figure the same thing out…
  11. Hey there! Also applying to U of T for a PhD. Out of curiosity, who are you applying to work with?
  12. Wave of Eastern European immigrants to where? Who exactly do you mean when you say "Eastern Europeans"? Do you have a specific group you're interested in? I just finished my MA in Canadian ethnic/immigration history (with a focus on a specific Eastern European ethnic group) and am currently playing the waiting game for PhD programs. If you want to talk through some of this stuff feel free to shoot me a private message!
  13. I just finished my MA at Queen's (in History but worked closely with Geography faculty) if you have any questions!
  14. I've also applied to U of T for a PhD (F14). I'm getting nervous because the first acceptances (according to GradCafe) were sent out on February 10th last year. But, so far, no one I know, and no one on here, has been accepted yet which leads me to believe they're just taking longer this year because they're also currently in the process of hiring a new Canadianist. Who knows. Fingers crossed for all of us!
