  4. That's the only way to do it! If you're passionate, you need little else.
  5. I'm 27. Been out for almost a year, took loads of time off for travel etc. studied abroad for a bit. I'm not really worried about age and quite frankly, if that's a factor in a rejection it's just as well. Quality of work/ potential of writing ability should be the main focus. I want to attend a school which will align with my belief in that regard. That being said I really think that's true of most institutions, though perhaps there shouldn't be a request within the application for date of birth? I haven't thought about it too much.
  6. Cobbler yeah, it's kind of lovely. <3
  7. You stop that right now. BAD. DOG. I mean... aaagh
  8. About Admissions: Your faith honors the program; we are grateful for the window you’ve given us on your work. The energies that led you through this process will continue to fuel your growth; you will find, refine, create opportunities to build and exercise your voice in widening circles of collaboration. Our incoming class is always painfully small – we only accept two students. Each year, our short-list is always easily twenty students long. I regret we don’t have wider doors. Selections, then, don’t come down to picking the two “best” writers; there are many “bests” – and many ways to assess the texts (and videos, and paintings and all the great, diverse material that came in). And these tools of assessment are hardly fool-proof (and certainly nothing saves me from being a fool). Each year we accept two voices we think will resonate closely with the mix in the cohort as it stands. We’re therefore always looking for something slightly different, year by year, and the quest is subjective (hopeful and uncertain). Many thanks for engaging with us on your journey forward. Your practice is important to the sanity of society; we wish you patience, perseverance, and the joy of authentic expression. I regret we will not be sharing a classroom; I am glad we will be sharing theater. Sincerely, Erik Ehn Director, Writing for Performance
  9. I agree, that letter really helped. I was like, yeah! I'm still in theater! Easy to forget when you're stressed. It was a wonderful gesture.
  10. Rejection from Brown via web posting.
  11. No idea how to delete a double post! Also, my Mac just crashed?!?!? You guys. Ah. AH.
  12. A theater called 2cents in LA. I'll be visiting, yay sunshine! Do you live in NYC?

  14. Oh the stress dreams are the best. That's so cool that you had a musical produced. I have a play going up in Cali soon.
  15. Rogue where did you receive your mfa?
  16. Hey rogue! Thanks for the response! I should have been more specific, I meant 'put up' as in being produced. Anyone in a festival or anything? but yes very good points about copyright etc. Let's hope future Brown students! The program looks whacky and strange, like being spirited away or something and oh god I just want that. Thread sounds fun! How do we do that? Or maybe we should email? Othello is one of my favorite Shakespeare plays buuuuuut, he doesn't top my lists. Hopefully I'll be seeing Ruhl's 'vibrator play' soon! Also... I think Paula Vogel is now at Yale officially, unless she goes back and forth?
  17. Ha! I know that feeling. Same here. Oh it's such an interesting journey!
  18. I just want to sleep until April (( must. Maintain. Positive. Attitude!
  19. Oh god this Friday? Cue constant need to barf. It was already pretty strong urf. To my knowledge it's pretty small. And they get almost two hundred applicants. Brown notifies people around feb 28 ( or the end of feb)
  20. They narrow it down to nine or ten finalists who they invite for an interview at Yale. They usually do this via phone call. From there it seems they narrow it down to two or three. But it may change from year to year. This is what I have gathered from previous posts here and from the open house. I think phone calls go out around the end of feb early march
  21. It will be! We'll all find a home anyone have their work put up anywhere?
  22. Now that song is stuck in my head.
  23. Brutalized? Ha why? Because of the wait?
