  1. Hello All, Hopeful ETA Fulbright here. Aiming for Czechia. Already nervous, and just beginning the application to apply- wow! After applying and waiting for Grad school news a few years ago I kind of can't believe I'm about to do this again. Good luck to everyone!
  2. post-MFA lurker lurking, but I wanted to put in a good word for the program at Smith College. I had a wonderful experience and produced a lot of work in addition to growing immensely as a writer. Their resources are incredible and funding is very fair. You also have the option to live on campus. Len Berkman and Andrea Hairston are beautiful people. If you're looking to beef up your application resume, I recommend applying to playwriting conferences if you haven't already. You'll be able to meet and network with a lot of theater folks, and you'll workshop a script. In some cases (GPTC) you get a dramaturg. Most of you probably know this, but I just wanted to throw it out there for next application cycle. break legs etc to those still waiting. I remember the application cycle for grad-school being one of the most stressful times in my life.
  3. Last Frontier is running late- I've emailed Dawson and he thought they might be out by the end of Feb, but it looks like they're a little behind. Should be any day.
  4. I think the program length depends on what you want out of the program. I want time to write, have readings, and work on my writing, but I also want to learn other aspects of theater- a shorter program is better for me so that I can get to work sooner with my MFA! I can see how a three year program would be a great choice too- but at this point I'm enjoying the two and ready for what comes next!
  5. Smith is a 2 year program! The valley is awesome when there isn't so much snow... everything right now is a little chilly.
  6. Also, they offer some crazy fantastic classes, the location is gorgeous, and the underclassmen are very enthusiastic about individual projects.
  7. Hey all for what it's worth I am very happy with the program here at Smith and would be happy to talk to anyone who's interested. They give some funding, and it's very much a self starting program, but if you like to do a lot of different things in theater as well as write, and if you have a lot of ideas you would like to place in motion, Smith is so wonderful. I can't recommend it enough, though it is definitely for a certain kind of person. The faculty is also really knowledgable, approachable, and encouraging.
  8. Nope! Still waiting! Also break legs to everyone applying this year... this waiting period sucks, but you will get through it!!!
  9. Hey all- anyone apply to last frontier this year?
  10. Finally got a form letter rejection via snail mail from cmu. Very unimpressed with them, for what it's worth. Rejection is fine, but if Yale and brown can tell me in February, perhaps cmu can do a bit more than notify my via post at the end of may. /rant. Still just further evidence that I'm going to the best possible school for me.
  11. I don't know how you stayed sane waiting so long so super congrats
  12. That's a solid plan. You'll most likely get into ucla next year and it's better to hold out and pay for a program you love.
  13. Can you visit and then give a response?
