  1. I would definitely grab the opportunity. Experience is so important on your resumes these days. I haven't landed any internships so far and I really think that not having internship and work experience is the biggest barrier for finding a job.
  2. Hello, welcome to Western! I'm also a current Western grad student. I live north of the university, within walking distance of the Masonville Mall and there is a grocery store nearby so it's very convenient and it's a pretty good area in general. Right now is still a bit early to look for houses because most ads are for the summer term.
  3. I think there are still rooms available at Lambton Hall, a university apartment. My friend who is in her third year undergrad there says she prefers the Masonville area to on-campus since it's close to everything you need. But she also said she misses classes in Winter since it's so cold, so I'm still struggling with my decision...
  4. Is anyone else going to Western this fall? Will it be too late if I wait until July to decide on housing? I've been looking at online ads but haven't seen anything matching my criteria. I'm looking to live in a two-bedroom so I'm also searching for a roommate.
  5. I had another offer which required my decision by late March. I had already asked for an extension on my decision but wasn't able to receive any reply from UT before my extended deadline. It seems that UT hasn't sent out any rejections so I'm thinking my chances of getting an offer (with funding opportunities better than my other offer) is very low! I don't want to risk not getting into any schools this fall so I made my decision to accept the other offer!
  6. Same here! Any idea on how life at uwo is for grad students? I'm in a one year program so I'm wondering if it'll be a fleeting year with only studying.
  7. Also got no changes on my UT statistics application. I've already accepted an offer elsewhere though since my decision deadline has passed.
  8. U of T's statistics department has apparently sent out several acceptances according to the results page, but I've got nothing. Status page stays the same. Now I'm hoping they don't send a rejection through snailmail like some people have said they do! I'd rather receive it in my gmail inbox, so that my dad or neighbors won't be the ones to see it first... Snailmail rejections are too cruel IMO
  9. I'm likely going there this fall. I've been looking for houses and student apartments near Western but many are unfurnished. I'm wondering if there will be more options as it gets nearer to September!
  10. Went to Quest on Waterloo and saw a Deny. I'll probably be depressed all day. Can't concentrate in class!
  11. Couldn't log in either! I only have my joinid and student id from my application, both of which do not work. :/
  12. A professor who agreed to write my letters was known for having little sense of time. I ended up emailing her daily prior to the my first deadline even though she never replies, and kept calling her secretary asking her to remind the professor. She sent all of the letters only a couple of hours before the deadline ended (although there is a significant time difference I didn't think I could expect her to do it after midnight). Before she sent it though I was refreshing the auto-updated page like mad and near losing it since I didn't think missing the deadline was acceptable. I was conjuring up any curse I had in my head but of course kept my emails ultimately polite. Although she really nearly gave me a heart-attack, after everything was done I felt really thankful to her for taking the time to send the letters because I know how incredibly busy she is! Point is, I kind of know how you feel. If that professor actually did miss my deadline I'd probably hate her too so it was good she didn't! Yes you should've made sure it was received well before the deadline, but it sounds like your prof's attitude was horrible so you can definitely feel angry. Never think about burning that bridge though because it isn't worth it! Also, once you confirm her letters are received you should let her know and thank her politely. Hope things will work out for you!
  13. This morning I had a nightmare about getting a rejection from my top choice due to false information in my application and I was banned from ever applying there again I pinched myself during the nightmare but couldn't wake up so I had a hard time deciding whether it was real or not once I actually did wake up lol. Dreams are weird since there's no such "false information" in my actual application... just goes to show how stressful this whole waiting thing is.
  14. I'd wait for the official offer of admission like your other programs have done. One school I applied to sent me housing info via email, and another activated my email account shortly after I finished uploading my application, and at that time both had not made a decision, so it happens, I think!
  15. Congrats on Waterloo! Sounds like a pretty sure acceptance or else your potential adviser wouldn't be saying that.
