  1. It might be possible for you to find an out of state program that would honor in-state tuition because of where you live. I applied to an out of state program but am able to get in-state tuition because of the county I live in. My school is about 2 1/2 hours away from home. Some schools also allow students of bordering states to get a tuition reduction. Good luck!
  2. It's great to see another person going to PSU! Did you get any offers for funding in the letter they sent? I didn't and am still waiting on them to process my financial aid package. I've heard that they usually give good funding/aid, but not knowing is freaking me out!
  3. I was conditionally accepted to Pittsburg State University. The acceptance letter they sent said the conditions were that I need to complete 12 hours of grad work with grades above a C and also that they are still waiting for my criminal background check to be completed. Hope this helps.
  4. I was accepted into Masters program in Clinical Psychology by a school that offers funding for graduate assistants; however, I have not been awarded a position yet. When I emailed the department's contact person, I was told that the department has my grad assistant application (which I sent with the rest of my application stuff) and they will let me know if I get a position by May. I really need funding or I will not be able to go at all. I am still waiting to hear from another school I was waitlisted at, but I haven't heard back from them and the school I was accepted into needs an acceptance from me by April 11th. Is this normal for schools or does this mean I will most likely get no funding?
  5. Thank you all for the great info! I did some more searching today and emailed a few people (house rentals and apartments) with questions, so hopefully I will get an idea of what costs and responsibilities I will have either way. I really am going back and forth between renting a house or an apartment, both have positives and negatives. Right now I am in the process of figuring out my finances for my future grad student life, so a lot will depend on what I will be able to afford housing wise. It sure is a lot more difficult finding a place when you have pets I wish it wasn't; my dogs are my life and I will not go if they can't come with me. I really appreciate every one's input
  6. Thanks for the replies! I would post in the city guide forum, but the city I am moving to is not on there. I have no problem with outdoor upkeep as long as it is small, which is really what I am looking for anyway. I will email the individuals renting the houses. I won't be moving until a month before my program starts this fall, but wanted to be prepared since my housing needs are complicated. I will definitely seek out current grads in my program and get their advice
  7. After finally getting an acceptance, I am now faced with the dilemma of finding some place to live. I have 2 medium/large dogs (my babies) and finding a place for us to live is not looking good right now. I started off by looking at apartments, but have had no luck. However, while searching for apartments, I began to notice house rental listings. These houses are the same price, and in some cases, lower priced, than the apartments. I would really prefer living in a house: quieter, more space, having a fenced backyard, etc.; but I know nothing about how renting a house works. I assume there is more expense in upkeep and utilities? After seeing what apartment options offered in the area I am moving to, a house seems more realistic. So, does anyone have experience with renting a house?
  8. I just got accepted to Pittsburg State University Masters in Clinical Psychology program. Anyone else get accepted there? I haven't received a financial package yet, but hopefully, they will give me a decent offer so I can go. I only have one other program I am waiting to hear from and I have been waitlisted there.
  9. Got my first acceptance today while waiting for an oil change! I had almost given up on getting accepted anywhere this year. I still have one more school to hear from where I was waitlisted. Huge sigh of relief!
  10. I have a couple of waitlist questions. This is my first year applying to grad schools. A couple of days ago I received an application status of low alternative from one of my programs. The program director said there were 49 completed applications and only 9 spots open. Do I even have a chance? I would feel better about this if I was a high alternative. My other question is that I have not heard back from a program that had an application deadline of early December. When I check my status online it says: submitted. However, the school recently sent me an email about university housing saying: We look forward to assisting you in the transition to your new home here at X University. Does this mean anything? Could I be waitlisted? Other than these 2 schools, I am still waiting to hear back from one other which stated that a decision would be made mid to late March. I am basically driving myself crazy obsessing over all of the possibilities. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated!
