  1. I have a 3.8 undergrad GPA in which my major was psych. I am currently in a post-bacc program with a 3.9 GPA. My GRE scores were mediocre but combined were over 300 (which I heard is a cut-off point for many programs). I received an interview for Brooklyn College but have yet to hear if I have been accepted, wait listed, or rejected. Best of luck to you!!
  2. Fingers crossed that we'll be hearing from Brooklyn soon since the April 15th deadline has passed! It's the only school I have left to hear from!
  3. Congrats!! I also got a call today saying I've been accepted!
  4. I was also wondering this and tried researching online but still couldn't figure it out. It seems like a pain to get a NY license if you go to school out of state and there's also the TSSLD that you'd need to obtain I think. In the end I've decided to go to a school in state but I know not everyone has that option. I'm still curious though as what it would take to get a license in NY from out of state.
  5. Hi! I didn't apply to either of the schools you are thinking about but just so you know if you would like to work in NY after graduation then you should attend NYU because a NY license is hard to obtain if you do not graduate from a NY school. Either way I would look online to see what Arizona requires for their licensing and what NY requires and then what the state that you might want to work in after graduation requires. I know it doesn't exactly answer your question but its just something to thing about when deciding!
  6. I'm still waiting to hear from Seton Hall as well! I think I saw someone post that they have 10 days to make a decision once they receive the packet. This makes me assume that they are not following the April 15th deadline but they started to let people know of acceptances a few weeks ago so your estimate of knowing by next week might be correct!
  7. I'm an out-of-field applicant (BA in psych as well) and applied for Fall 2014. At first I was going to apply without pre-reqs but I found it hard to find programs that did not require pre-reqs first. I entered a post-bacc program last summer and am in my last semester. I would say that it's important to have a well written personal statement and good GRE scores as well as a good GPA. I would also research programs that you are interested in and e-mail them. See if they accept applicants that do not have pre-reqs completed prior to applying. Ask if they could tell you what percentage of their incoming class did not have any pre-reqs when applying. Also, I would say that it would be a good idea to complete observation hours. For my post-bacc program I had to complete 25 hours of observation. I think that this looked good to admission committees because they saw that I was getting out into the field and learning what it would be like to be a SLP. This is also good for you because you can see if being a SLP is really for you! Feel free to ask me if you have any more questions! I know that this process can be very nerve-wracking!
  8. Maybe they figure if a lot of applicants they accept decline them then they'll interview more?
  9. They didn't say if more would be interviewed but I think they have interviewed more based on what people posted on the results board. Honestly I'm not sure. But I don't see why they would keep your application in review with no intention of interviewing you. I wish I understood how programs did their admission process! Haha
  10. Thanks for the info! Looks like it might be a while before we hear from them
  11. I'm not waiting to hear back from Queens but I am waiting to hear back from Brooklyn and am in the same situation. I think that were technically wait listed because they accepted their 1st wave of applicants and are waiting to hear back from them. Once they hear back from them I'm thinking that there will be a 2nd wave of acceptances and then an official wait list will probably come out around the beginning of May (based on posts from recent years). Queens is probably doing a similiar thing. I agree though that it's very frustrating to not have heard anything back. However we haven't been rejected so that's a plus
  12. On Adelphi's website (http://catalog.adelphi.edu/preview_program.php?catoid=3&poid=1025&returnto=166) it says that the speech program at the Manhattan Center is a Sunday program. The M-F program is offered at Garden City and the Sunday program is offered at Garden City and the Manhattan Center. I also observed a speech-language pathologist who attended the Manhattan Center and explained to me that all the classes are on Sundays. Hope this helps
  13. That's so amazing! Congrats! Now you have a decision to make!
  14. I also had a BA in Psych and had 6 pre req courses finished when I applied and I'm currently taking 3 more. I felt I was at a disadvantage when applying because I didn't have a degree in CMD so I did everything to make sure that I would be a good candidate for programs. I completed 25 observation hours. My GPA was high (3.8 undergrad and 3.9 in pre reqs). My GRE scores were average but combined they were over 300 which I heard is a common cutoff score for grad programs. The most important thing, I believe, that I did though was researching different programs! I e-mailed many different programs and told them what pre reqs I had and asked if I would be able to apply to their programs with those pre reqs. There were many programs that I was not able to apply to because they required more or different pre reqs. I only applied to programs that I knew would accept applicants with my background. I also applied to a couple "safety" programs, although I know in this field that doesn't really mean much.
  15. Thanks for sharing! That is long but hopefully we'll be hearing soon Is this your first choice?
  16. Anyone else thinking of going here?
  17. From the days they received their letters it seemed that Seton Hall sent them out on different days. They all live fairly close and received them on different days. I also live close but have not gotten anything.
  18. I know people who have received rejections from Seton Hall via mail. It seems like they are making phone calls for acceptances and rejecting through mail. However, I don't know where that leaves those of us who haven't heard! Either we haven't received the rejection letter yet or they are one of the schools that sends out their 1st wave of acceptances and see what replies they get and then notify more people.
  19. Nope, no news yet. Starting to wonder whats going on and if they already accepted their 1st wave of applicants...
  20. Thanks for sharing! If the review process is still in progress then I would think that they are still considering interviewing applicants. It seems like theres still hope
  21. That's true! Maybe it was actually less then. The positive thing is that neither of us has received rejections so we're still being considered
  22. I think someone posted in another thread that the 2nd round would be going out on April 8th so maybe next week we will hear something! Good luck to you!
  23. That's crazy that you haven't even been notified of an interview yet! I hope you get an e-mail about it soon. Who knows maybe we will both end up there in the Fall
  24. Oh that's interesting! I'm going to be heartbroken if I've waited this long to receive a rejection It's better to just rip the band-aid off right away. I had no idea that they still had applicants to interview! When I interviewed they said that about 100 applicants received an interview, but I noticed that more applicants received an interview after I was told that so I'm wondering if that number has gone up.
  25. I received an e-mail saying I was accepted and that my official letter would be arriving in the mail shortly! Good luck to all that applied!
