For those with CPL and other fellowships who are receiving grants or stipends, did your grant/stipend show up in your MYFAID portal? I can only see my tuition support, but not anything else. Curious to know if that comes later.

Yep, my grant and stipend both showed up.

I didn’t apply to Harvard or Yale, but out or curiosity, is the aid they give any good? Harris is fairly stingy to me it seems despite their deep pockets so I’m curious how those other two compare.

See my signature. Yale Jackson gave me full funding. HKS full funding for the first year but still on the hook for a third semester. Will try to negotiate or explore other funding options.

I submitted a scholarship recon form to Harris just today, leveraging my offers from other schools. I guess can't hurt to try and see how they respond.

I submitted the scholarship reconsideration. It’s a process that requires that you send them a bunch of stuff and tell them how much money you want and explain why they should give it to you. I got accepted for MPP and given $20,000 of the $60,000 a year tuition. I got a full ride elsewhere so unless Harris can match a full ride I don’t think I’ll go there but I submitted it anyways since I figured why not at least try and see if they are open to it.

Ditto. Got more aid at other schools (Harvard and Yale) so not likely to go to Harris unless I don't get into Wharton/MIT/Yale for my MBA program. (Join/concurrent degree applicant)

  4. Has anyone submitted a scholarship reconsideration form to Harris yet? I just wanted to make sure that the extra aid I ask for is reasonable (in that form).

Did you know anyone who got a full scholarship (tuition + direct fees + stipend)?

I admit I got competitive offers from Harvard MPP and Yale Jackson's MA that offered way much more aid than Harris did. However, I'm still interested in the possibility of going to Booth/Harris if other MBA programs don't work out.

Someone else said "I have heard the max is $45k but that could be wrong."

Did we ever figure out if the mysterious magazine deliveries actually correlated with acceptance? Can anyone who received a magazine and didnt get admitted let us know by posting? Curious to know if we can add it to the repository of information for future HKS aspirants to pore over.

I'm in Italy and I didn't get any magazine. I got into HKS and got a CPL fellowship.

    Hello!

Reviving this topic because I’m in the same situation. I have received fully funded offers from HKS and Yale Jackson. HKS has always been my dream school, but I’m impressed by Jackson’s program and finding it hard to decline as well. I also think both programs would contribute greatly and differently to the career path I want to take. Does anyone know of someone who has managed to attend both schools (or another policy school) as a joint program?

In the same situation. For full ride for this coming year at HKS. Although I'm on the hook for a third semester at HKS as a concurrent degree seeker, but planning on applying to external scholarships and find other sources of funding.

I'll love if others can chime in about HKS vs. Yale Jackson, and bonus points if you did HKS/Wharton or HKS/MIT Sloan.

Rejected (MPP) :( Going for my MBA at MIT though, and was planning to start there anyway and then at HKS in Fall 2022. Will probably reapply but for the MPA...maybe chances will be higher after a semester at MIT Sloan. Anyone know if they hold on to recommendation letters and/or essays?

Congrats on getting into MIT Sloan! I hope you will come to love MIT just as I did (I went to MIT undergrad).

Chin up and re-apply in your first year. You still got another chance! :)

Wow I'm pleasantly surprised! Accepted to MPA/ID. The HBS rejection stings a bit more now...

Ditto here. Got rejected from HBS as well. :(

Would broaching the topic be appropriate via email, or is it more typically a phone conversation? Also, is it best to wait until all your initial financial offers have been received? (I’m still waiting on GWU Trachtenberg, like everyone else)

Likely email. Def wait until you hear from all schools - maybe that school could give you the most aid and you use it as your leverage.

    +1

I received a Foreign Language and Area Studies grant this week which covers full tuition and a $15,000 stipend to an MA program at one of my schools. Part of me feels uncomfortable negotiating with other schools.... I can't really expect most programs (SFS, SIPA, etc) to match that level of support, let alone even offering full tuition.

Hrmm, this appears to be from a grant rather than aid from a school. I'm not sure how they view this when you negotiate with them. Anyone got thoughts on this?

Also curious! I was admitted to Harris, Wagner, and McCourt so far and received the same financial aid offer (50% tuition) from all three, so I don’t have a higher offer to leverage. I do have a career update (new project relevant to my policy interests) I am planning on sharing. Still waiting on SIPA’s financial aid offer and HKS.

While HKS won't come out until much later, Harris did send out an email saying they will open up financial aid reconsideration from March 10 to March 24.....so if we happen to get full aid from HKS, I'm not sure if Harris will consider it after March 24th. Hoping SIPA gives you a higher aid!

I plan to use my full-ride aid from Jackson to negotiate with JHU SAIS and Harris just to see what happens....the worst they can say is no or just bump it up a bit.

Does yale allow you to do Jackson/Wharton? Only info I have found says Jackson/SOM for MBA. Anyone have a link to other pairings?

Yep, Jackson/Wharton is possible - just need Wharton's approval and must start at Jackson first. Jackson can pair with any other business school outside of SOM. It's just really up to the business school to approve the concurrent/joint/dual degree. This is based on my conversation with another admitted Jackson applicant who had a chat with Asha about this situation.

I'm in a similar boat--dual MBA / Policy candidate. Accepted to Chicago Harris MPP ($$) and interviewed R2 w/ Booth. Accepted to Columbia Business and SIPA (no $$ yet). Didn't get into HBS, but still hopeful for HKS.

Any thoughts which way you're leaning?

I didn't get into HBS yet but also hopeful for HKS with scholarship.

It's hard for me to say which ones I want because it's dependent on funding and location. I could do Wharton/HKS, Wharton/Jackson, Booth/Harris, and Yale SOM/Jackson. I'm leaning towards Wharton/HKS though, but we'll see what is offered.

    How about you?

I just received my Princeton SPIA MPA admission, I also have Yale Jackson (funding TBD) just-below-full-ride at SAIS. Although they have not come out yet, I'm not considering MSFS or SIPA. (just not my fits)

I really have a wide range of interests across security and development, and I'll have a really difficult time with my choice especially if I miraculously also get into Stanford MIP (which I don't think will happen). I have mixed thoughts about HKS MPP, as it's such a big programme and I think I would really enjoy close interaction with the faculty. But then, the simple size of the faculty would mean that there would always be a professor who does whatever I am interested in. Also, I would really enjoy the negotiation classes. Probably I will not be able to afford HKS MPP anyway but still...

    How would you guys choose?

Congrats getting into these programs! I also got into UChicago Harris (50% scholarship), JHU SAIS (60% tuition scholarship approx) and Yale Jackson.

Also waiting on Stanford MIP and HKS MPP.

I'm an MBA/MA or MBA/MPP joint degree applicant so where I get in for business school will be the primary factor in my decision before I decide on which MPP/MA programs pairing with the MBA program.

Right now, I'm either for Yale SOM/Jackson, UChicago Booth/Harris, and Wharton/HKS (there is also Wharton/JHU SAIS but we'll see about that).

Hi guys, congratulations to all admitted. I was wondering how did you find out about your admission/rejection. I did not receive any email nor any information has been updated on my application status.

I definitely got an email that directed me to my portal to see my decision. That's weird you got nothing. Best to reach out to the admissions team and ask them about your application.

  15. Got in! Now waiting for funding information. It seems this program is quite competitive — selecting around 50-60 applicants out of a pool of 300+ applicants (saw this somewhere so can't remember where exactly).
