Unfortunately, no. But at this point it could mean anything. I think Rochester does not get that many applicants compared to other similarly-ranked schools, but at the same time it's not a large program either, so they would be hesitant to "over admit". So they might want to keep an implicit waitlist. It might also be they are not done sending out acceptances yet. Their visit day is quite late (first week of April), which would support this theory (or alternatively - they want admitted students to experience more of a spring rather than winter weather :))

Depends who's on the committee this year, I suppose.
-
Rochester e-mailed info about the visit day. Anybody going?
-
Thanks, this is very helpful!

How about formal theory? Does it make sense to rely on whatever the econ department has to offer or is it the same story as with methods training, in your opinion?

I'm a little jealous, dear Princeton admits! Congrats!!

Hi Mike, Check out this: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/German_federal_election,_1930 and in particular, the graphic with Reichstag composition. Assuming all this is accurate, communists where seated on the extreme left, followed by social democrats, and then a number of other parties. On the very right was NSDAP. I know this is not quite the answer you are looking for, but it is suggestive that already at its beginnings NSDAP was considered a right-wing party and therefore no "change" of classification has occurred.

Check your spam folder, that's where I found my notification!

Yes, I only got an e-mail. My application hasn't been updated.
-
Congrats! I got on the waitlist

Today feels like a good day for NYU to release results.
-
I randomly logged in, although an e-mail followed shortly thereafter. And thanks!!!
-
I got in as well Happy day that started dull!

I think it's a pretty bad signal, e-mailing impatiently at this moment. Faculty might think you will require a lot of babysitting once in the program. If you absolutely have to hear something, better e-mail the admissions assistant.
-
I haven't posted my acceptance on the results page yet. It must be another admitted person.
-
Thanks! I'm really happy to have my first admission.
-
I got an e-mail that said to check website. Decision letter was there. I guess they do it in batches, not all at once, so be patient!

Rochester is out!

So, next week we can expect Duke, Rochester, NYU. Anything else?

Of course, do the thesis. -
GRE - does raw score or percentile matter more?
terefere replied to wb3060's topic in Political Science Forum
My apologies, actually I was wrong, these are median GRE scores (and median GPAs) -
Fair enough! Maybe I'm just being delusional and would still keep worrying even with an acceptance in my pocket!

GRE - does raw score or percentile matter more?
terefere replied to wb3060's topic in Political Science Forum
These scores are mean. There are always outliers with perfect scores, so I believe it is skewed to the right and the median is actually lower than that. Also, do keep in mind the correlation. GRE is not particularly hard to master, so people with generally good academic outcomes tend to get better scores. That's the real bias. Let's be honest, if you are academically gifted and generally do very well, how likely are you to get 150-150 on the GRE? There is simply no good reason why schools should pay very close attention to GRE scores, other than to screen out people with VERY low scores, who are either badly prepared or too lazy to study. -
GRE - does raw score or percentile matter more?
terefere replied to wb3060's topic in Political Science Forum
That's a bit of an exaggeration. For instance, look at Duke stats: https://gradschool.duke.edu/about/statistics/political-science-phd-admissions-and-enrollment-statistics The average combined score last year was 323, and that means there must have been people with scores below 320 who got accepted. I think everybody here is seriously overestimating the importance of GRE. It is simply used as a screening mechanism, nothing more than that. -
Same here... 15 programs, heard from 0 so far. I really want this one acceptance to come through asap so that I could relax a little.
