  1. @Speechies - For UoT and Western, there are sections where you input information for "Volunteer experiences in SLP or AUD", as well as for "Other Volunteer Experiences". You list the date range, hours, title, and a (very) brief description of the volunteer experience involved. For other schools you are given more space to write about your volunteer experiences/duties. @futureslpcan - Regardless of when you took the prereqs, you will list the course/marks that you received when completing the application. However, the subGPA calculation will only be of the the last 10 full or 20 half undergraduate course credits from your transcript (ORPAS calculates it for UoT and UWO when they have received the transcript). If the last two years you completed 19 half credit courses, they will take the average of the semester prior to those for the 20th half credit course. @lindzzz - Sorry, I'm not sure about that one! But, I don't think they would have a specific amount of spots.
  2. Oh really! Haha, I just thought that since one slot was listed specifically for a clinical referee on ORPAS, I thought I could only submit one. Oh well!
  3. As well as someone who will be able to give you a great clinical reference when the time comes! I only worked with one SLP throughout the past couple years, but I was able to help out with children and teens/adults with developmental delays. Since you can only submit one clinical reference, and the remainder should probably come from academia, it would be great to have a SLP who knows you really well and can say how you've been with them for however long. It would also be really beneficial if after taking a class with a professor, you could get into a research lab with them as well - that way they can speak about both your academic performance as well as your work in the lab.
  4. I was accepted off the Alberta waitlist today and I will be accepting! Does anyone know of a facebook group for Alberta?
  5. So, for a while I didn't think I would have a choice between schools, but now I do... I've been accepted to Syracuse University and Eastern Michigan. I was able to go to the open house for Syracuse and they have really great facilities, however, in the end it is pricier than Eastern Michigan. I've read that both programs are a bit disorganized and I've had difficulties navigating around Eastern Michigan's website for more information. The campus for Syracuse was nice (at least the main campus), but most of the time I would be at South campus, which wasn't as nice. I've looked at the virtual tour for Eastern Michigan and it seems really nice in comparison. Looking past these superficial aspects, does anyone know of anyone in these programs and could let me know of any pros/cons?
  6. For those accepted to UoT, when is the deadline to accept?
  7. If you haven't heard from UoT, you could have been waitlisted or rejected. I sent an email yesterday asking about my status, and Mabel replied today letting me know that I was waitlisted. So it looks like only acceptances were sent by email (not waitlists or rejections). Also, anyone have any idea how long the waitlist is at UoT?
  8. For those wondering about Alberta, in the waitlist email they did mention that they have already sent out offer letters to 56 students and they will have until April 7 to make a decision. So, it sounds like acceptance letters have already been sent out, and other waitlists might come out eventually.
  9. I have also been waitlisted at Alberta! I received an email from them about an hour ago informing me . Btw if you're wondering, Bear Tracks has not been updated yet.
  10. Yeah, I will be attending the open house. It's not too far of a drive for me, so I'm going for the day! Has anyone heard from University of Vermont or Eastern Michigan? I saw some people receive acceptances to Vermont, but I was just wondering if anyone knew if there was more to come, or if any waitlists or rejections have been sent out. I'm still waiting on a letter from Bloomington, which was probably sent out a couple weeks ago, but since I live in Canada, it will likely take a bit longer..
  11. pdxlady1, I've also been accepted into Syracuse! This was my first acceptance as well, and I am a Canadian applicant, so if anyone does have any information about Syracuse that would be great!! Are you planning to go to the open house later this month?
  12. Hahah, I think they were sent through Canada post, although I'm not entirely sure.. My school prepares the transcripts and then mails them out themselves after 5 business days. I do have the receipt and they do have it listed as being sent in their system as well. But, Dalhousie insists they don't have them and my school won't take responsibility for it, so I've already gone ahead and paid the charges for a courier to deliver them. It's just unfortunate that it could have affected my chances for admission last year. I have transcripts from a second institution as well and the two copies were sent on different dates and apparently Dalhousie only received one of those copies as well.. So I really don't have any idea what is going on. But at least for that school, they are covering the charges for a courier.
