  1. Know this is a little late, but might be helpful for next year... Questions were hybrid between specific to this and MBA type questions. Tell us about yourself. Why Analytics? Why now? Why NC State? Teamwork was emphasized: examples of working in a team, problems with a teammate, how would teammates describe you? As far as program specific questions: Describe a linear regression to someone unfamiliar with math/stats (role-playing, think an exec that you are presenting data to). Some follow up questions there, also was asked to explain what a very simple regression was. Good news here is that i somewhat botched this and was still admitted. They also asked a spin on the weakness questions, which was what do you think will be your biggest challenge in the program. Overall, there was a former student, the practicum head, admissions person, and a professor on the call. Nothing too out of the box.
  2. Great insight on here... I'm also deciding between NC State, Texas, and LSU. I'm in Texas, and would like to end up in Texas, as well as it seems Texas tends to be givingt more money in order to make it more enticing. I talked to a current UT student this week, and I know they have a heavy focus on R, but are exposed to SAS and some other tools as well. They seem like they've been very reactive to student suggestions, as she said that there were a LOT of industry events and networking opportunities through McComb and the program specifically. However, LSU (easier move) and NC state (hardest move) are more established, so there's a heavy pull there... Tough choices to make in the next couple of weeks.
