Oh, I'm sorry! As for they liking me so much, I don't think so. It's probably reasonable to assume they notified those whom they interviewed first. I don't mean to rub salt in your open wound but... may I ask if you got an official rejection or a personal email from your interviewers? As for CUNY, I'm right there with you man!! Their deadline was in December!!

Good Luck!!!! Now, I have a question for you all! I always assumed one program's rejections would come out all at once. Was I wrong? Because I saw somebody posted a rej. notification from Upenn recently, so I was wondering where is mine!! Am I crazy for just wanting my straight out rejection email? I mean, I know I am, but ... I want my Rejection already!! I need to start officially crossing off programs.

Thanks! The closeness to NYC is absolutely a plus! Also form an academic point of view, since the stony brook linguistics department has frequent collaborations with NYU, Cuny and Yale. I'm pretty excited about that So do you think living off campus is better then on-campus solutions?What about craiglist? Do you believe it to be a good place to find affordable housing near SB or do you have any other suggestion?

Thank you, you are right! To be fair, I am really excited and grateful about Stony Brook (No matter what, I will do a Ph.D. in linguistics! I've been dreaming about this for almost two years!). It's just hard not knowing about the others.

So Guys -since I don't really have interest in troll-induced conversations- how are you doing? Do you think the interview period to be over? If so, all we have left is the waiting Personally, I am counting UMD, Upenn and NYU (sigh) as lost. But I wonder about Yale: do you think NOT being invited to the Open House is a no (I guess so, but ...)?

Thanks! I wrote him a few lines. I also told him that I'll do my best to attend the open house, and - for the sake of full disclosure- that although I am very excited about the department I'll wait to hear back from the other schools before making a final decision.

Guys, I want to write an email to my interviewer at SB (well, also my POI) to thank him for his support and for the kindness he showed during the interview. Do you think it would be inappopriate?

So, time to bring this topic to 2015. I was just admitted to Stony Brook and I'd like to hear some fresh opinions on the school/the life there/apartment situation etc. Also, I was offered a stipend of 17.5 K and full tuition coverage. Will it be enough do live there? I am an international student and cannot rely on family support any more.

I just got an email from Stony Brook: I'm IN!!!!!!!!!!!! So excited! (ps. since I saw there are other SB admitted up here, feel free to PM me! does any how you plan to attend the open house?)

Guys, someone posted a vague "Rejection" form Upenn in the result section. If the poster is up here: Is it you just making assumptions? Because I would agree with you - I am considering myself rejected form Upenn too - but I don't think it should be posted in the result section. Or did you received some kind of notification for it? At this point I would be glad to just be able of officially crossing some of my probable rejection off the list.

Yes I think it would be a good idea to inform the graduate office. I had the same problem with CUNY (one of my referee totally forgot about it even after I sent him a reminder the week before). I wrote the graduate secretary about it and they told me I still had a few days.
