So guys, where do you think you'll live? I heard terrible stories about the on campus housing!
-
Yeah, you are definitely right. Thank you. I'm going to do it and we'll see. So, I guess I am back in the game.

Guys I need an Advice. I just got an email from my poi at udel asking for a good time for an interview this week. I was literally a few moments away from accepting stony brook's offer, I had my mind pretty settled... Do you think I should go with the interview? Probably yes, because one can never know but I'm torn.
-
Ahaha that's precious! I was wondering, has anyone heard something from UDelaware? I don't think I' d accept their offer, even in the remote chance they admitted me but... It would be nice to know (I am also still waiting from my rejection from Maryland Silence treatment indeed, danica1 ).

So, today I received a letter through the actual postal service (I am in ITALY!). It was from Umass. Apparently, they really wanted to make sure I knew they had rejected me, as if the previous email and website advice were not enough. Thank you Umass, I'm flattered. The letter paper was really nice though.

Thank you all guys! I'll dress as warm as I can (I think I'll go buy a pair of gloves ) Oh wow! Great Thanks! I can't wait to visit! And I'm quite nervous too, even thought it is a post-acceptance visit I really want to make a good first impression.

Thanks onze! I'll dress as warmly as I can! It's still pretty cold also here in Italy.

Just to contribute with my story: I have a BS in Computer Science and a MS in Comp. Science and Engineering and almost no "official" linguistics courses in my cv. While pursuing my master's I found out this awesome thing called Linguistics. So I approached Comp. Ling. just to find out I was actually more in love with the study of Language and its properties than with ways to make computers work with languages. And here I am, a year or so of self-taught linguistics behind me Sacrecrow is right, there are so many ways into linguistics. Also guys, there is something I wanted to ask those of you who have already attended post-acceptance open houses. Next week I'm headed to Stony Brook for the open house. This may sound silly but... what should I wear? Do you think jeans, a long-sleeve shirt and a sweater would be fine?

So, my rejection from Yale came in. It was expected, of course. But still, it hurts! Don't know if it is just my ego/pride talking. Anyway, life goes on, and I already got the admission I wanted so... Congrats to those who got in!! Yale is a great school.

This is amazing!! Congrats!!

Foreword, I currently have two phone number for whatever reason. Also, the one I provided to programs in my applications is the one I use less. Being an international student, I though the probability of receiving an admission call over an email would be close to zero. So, I came home from work about an hour ago and found 3 (3!!!) phone calls from an US number! clearly, I freaked out (i'm desperately waiting for some news from MIT)! After few minutes of CRAZY, I realized I could at least check the area code online and...I found out it was a number from arizona...wait, I didn't apply to anything in arizona...wait, one of my collegues just moved to ASU for a one-year RA...f**K I sent him a furious email that went like "NEVER, EVER, CALL ME AGAIN"

From what this poster is telling us they should already have shortlists of candidates for each subfiels, so also according to what goldheartmountaintop and carmen7077 told us previously, we can probably expect -hope- to hear from them by the end of the week...I guess... I'm not really expecting an admission (although one can never know),, but I'd really like to start officially cross off programs.

Aaand my first rejection is in! I just got an email from CUNY. The rejection was very pretty decent, if it wasn't for the fact that the object of the email was "Graduate application" and it was from a general secretary, so I had to get to the end of the email to find out it was from CUNY. Well, apart from my hurt hypertrophic ego, I'm not really sad. It was expected, and I wouldn't have chosen CUNY over Stony Brook anyway. Congrats to those who got in!

Oh, ok. Thank you both. At least I won't spend my week end freaking out over an empty in box

I just noticed that in the last couple of year MIT notifications all went out between the 14th and 16th of Feb ... I'm back to checking my email 30 times per day!
-
Try being in Italy! I do this exact sequence every morning when I find an english titled mail in my inbox!! And I spend the firs five minutes thinking "Oh, wow, mail during the night! It is definitely some news from the US... usually it's just spam (Or that Damn MIT Linguistics newsletter ).
