My friend checked and was admitted. I have a feeling this means we are not admitted outright.
-
Madgab: I checked a little earlier today (around noon) and nothing had changed and there was nobody admitted in the results search. I am concerned as well because I worry that the portal is not that reliable. I am hoping my portal changes from that pesky orange triangle soon.

Agreed! I am a little concerned..

Cosmicmorgan: my fingers are crossed for you!! I am sending you lots of positive vibes _____ Does anyone have any opinions regarding point? Point is tied with UW-Milwaukee in my book (I am high on the waitlist at UWM so will likely be admitted). I toured the program last year and loved it. -

I have a strange feeling we must be rejected if we have not heard back. Last year the waitlists/acceptances were emailed and the rejections were mailed out. -

Does anyone know what is going on with Whitewater? I see two acceptances today but zero waitlists on the results page. It is pretty late in the day to still be sending these notifications out. Any ideas? -

I will round this out by announcing that I was waitlisted at UWM. *sigh* -
I did have to do that. I noticed my portal said that back when I first applied and nobody told me so I called and had them sent there... I'm sorry to hear that they didn't get yours. The issue with this process is that sometimes things are not overt and you have to sleuth your way to completing your applicatin which I agree .. Is definitely frustrating!

jvd: Clear your cache!! The only way I can log onto their site is to clear my browsing history, otherwise it takes forever to load/doesnt load. I have a friend who is a grad student there and she said we should have heart on Tuesday. I did see that many other programs gave notice (chemistry, engineering) so I bet we are next on the list!

I'm dying to hear from this school! Last year the portal was updated around March 12. Does anyone know if they will be notifying soon? I saw they notified their Aud candidates (different program I realize but it's close!) Does anyone have any insider info about the program?

St. Cloud state: freak out of the moment
NSSLHANerd replied to NSSLHANerd's topic in Speech-Language Pathology Forum
If you are in fear of not being waitlisted, have no fear! I called the SCSU Graduate office and they told me they are emailing ALL applicants (180) within the next few days and we will all be getting an email, letter, or both. They have other programs to email students back from as well so there is a huge stack on their desk and we should not be worried if we interviewed and have still not heard back! -

Cosmicmorgan, looks like your GRE is really great and could pull up your "score" from having a lower overall GPA. I think that having lots of extra curricular activities will also help. As you can see from the chart posted, they take a lot of people off the waitlist! Good luck, Friday is the day! I am also anxiously waiting! -
Hello friends! Had an interview at St. Cloud State last Friday. People got acceptance calls today and posted to the results search. I know it's not the end of the day yet but I'm starting to think I am getting waitlisted or a "soft rejection". Does anyone have any information on this situation? It's really tough to be here because I've been waiting by my phone for a week waiting for a call. I just don't know if there is still the possibility of an acceptance :/

Fall 2015 Interview: St. Cloud State
NSSLHANerd replied to NSSLHANerd's topic in Speech-Language Pathology Forum
Not to scare anyone but, calls were made two hours ago. They could still be making them. -
I don't have NJ experience but I got a 140Q and I got an interview (haven't heard back from any other schools). I had a high Verbal and above average AW score so as long as you balance a lower score out it is typically okay. I have never been even decent with numbers and I knew that no matter what, my Q score would never be impressive. Luckily I have a great verbal/writing skills, a huge asset in the SLP field. I would not be as concerned with a low Q score as I would be a low AW or V score. Also just a warning, many of my peers re-took the GRE and went up a point or two in one area and down a point or two in another, basically evening out. Unless you have sufficient time to re-take (at least a solid month of legitimate studying) I would advise against re-taking it. Like I said, I had a horrible Q score and chose not to re-take because I know myself and I know that my Q would not have gone up enough to make the $200 stress test worth it. I also knew that the rest of my application was strong. This application process works in your favor if you know yourself. Know what you have to offer, where you compare to others, what kinds of schools would be likely to accept you based on their past acceptances, and make sure you have more than just good grades. I had numerous extra-curriculars/research/field related work experience/leadership positions to offset a lower GPA (believe it or not a 3.57 cum is considered low in this field). Focus on your in major classes over general courses, those will be looked at with more scrutiny. Hope this helps, and good luck! I was in your shoes a year ago (I assume) and it was really exciting and scary but we all get through it.

I appreciate the support and the information about the externships. I have been stress eating since Saturday. Ha! I'm ready to get back into my normal routine. That keeps getting pushed back as each day passes. I hope everyone is okay with that blizzard you are getting in MN! -

Friends, I am having another wave of anxiety. Send help. Talking about the program helps me calm down. I though the graduate students were very helpful and kind. Does anyone know what the average commute to an externship is? -

AJM 24: Have no fear! Nobody received any calls today. I have it on good authority that calls will be made by the end of this week. Likely by tomorrow or Wednesday. I also waited with baited breath by my phone today in a state of constant worry. What did you think of the interview? I am so hooked on the program now! I am dying to know if I will be accepted. (Fetal position inducing applications 9/9 ) <- that is hilarious -

Smslp: That's a great question! I only applied to five schools and I only applied to schools in locations I could see myself living. I did not choose Eau Claire because I felt like I wasn't a competitive candidate for their program. I also had already decided to apply to two other WI programs where I would have to move. It all made sense at the time, though the more I try to explain it the stranger it seems (ha). I have heard wonderful things about Eau Claire's program and I'm very happy for your acceptance, you will likely have a great experience. I interviewed at SCSU on Friday and really loved the program, I'm hoping for a phone call from Dr. Crowell tomorrow!!
