I'm so excited to hear you will be visiting in May! I'm not sure how many are on the waitlist this year, I would think the range would be between 30-50 students. I think about 10 have accepted their offers at this point (those who knew right away) and we shoot for a class of 36. I don't want to speak too soon but you may have a good shot. Are you able to contact the school to find out where you are on the waitlist? Milwaukee's waitlist is typically upwards of 80! If you have any other questions, feel free to PM me Good luck, your waitlists are sure to turn into at least on acceptance!!!

A waitlist at UW-Stevens Point could be a great thing! I noticed a few of you were waitlisted. Last year was a really weird year for them and they got through the entire waitlist. I think they sent out acceptances really late. It is a great program, highly recommend!!

I disagree with the statement that Midwest schools are easier to get into. The midwest is the birthplace of SLP, you will find it much more competitive than a lot of southern schools. This is not meant to say that there is anything better/worse about the midwest or the south but I wanted you you to be informed that it is not less competitive in the midwest.

Waitlist & Deadline Conflicts

SOOOOOOO HAPPY FOR YOU!!!!! SLPosteriorCricoArytenoid!!!! :) -
I did just find this on ASHA though: What if I did not do a master's thesis? Few master's student in CSD complete a thesis, primarily because clinical training programs are so time-consuming. Although the completion of a thesis provides an excellent opportunity for the master's student to learn first hand whether research is exciting, motivating, and interesting to him or her, there are other ways to accomplish this. Many universities have summer research programs for undergraduate students. As an undergraduate or graduate student, you may be able to assist a faculty member with research. Most doctoral programs have a well-delineated set of research experiences that prepare the doctoral student for the dissertation phase of their program. Thus, there is little assumption that students enter a doctoral program with research proficiency. If you have the opportunity to complete a thesis in your clinical master's or AuD program, it will be good preparation. But if you completed your master's degree or AuD without a thesis, you should not allow the lack of a thesis to deter you from considering a PhD program.

Hello all, I put a deposit into the school I will be attending and just found out that they cut the thesis option for all incoming graduate students. I had been thinking about doing a thesis and now that I don't have the option I am extremely disappointed. Does anyone have any advice or comments about this? Signed, Nervous

St. Cloud state: freak out of the moment

Hearing nothing from a school when you know that other people are being accepted/waitlisted/rejected. I heard some schools may do this to keep people "on call". -

I am pulling for you!!! So glad you were waitlisted -
No problem MangoSmoothie! I understand how meaning can be misunderstood. I am a little bummed about not receiving funding but I am happy to be going to grad school in general

I got a 140Q and got into two grad schools and waitlisted 3rd at another. Chose not to retake it and had faith that the rest of my app was enough, it was! Good luck to all.

Does anyone know how the tuition works for the neighboring states? The ISU site says that neighboring states qualify for in state tuition...but I could not find how much a graduate credit was. They only had semester calculations. This school is my most expensive option but I know it is a good program...I am waiting for my letter in hopes I was awarded an assistantship. Anyone have experience with the cost of this program, as an out of state applicant?

Wisconsin Schools - Fall 2015

I would not worry too much about Madison. There are some hiring freezes/budget freezes but any hiring that started prior to this (idiotic) situation are still allowed to move forward. That being said, it is a scary time for higher education in WI.... Madison is #2 in the country for SLP, I doubt they are having any funding issues. -

Cosmicmorgan: Just got my waitlist email as well, CONGRATS TO YOU! They have a super small program so a waitlist is huge. -

Anyone still waiting to hear back from Whitewater? I assume I am rejected since both acceptance emails and waitlist emails have gone out but it is concerning. -
Portal JUST updated!!!

I am guessing we are either waitlisted or rejected. There is something to be said about how it says the application is under review still. There could be a shot.
