this makes sense to me.. but why redo a course? why not take a different course of the same equivalence ? i assume its for pre reqs... -
it seems a lot of the programs require an audiology course At the U of Toronto, we dont have one, neither do a lot of schools here Im wondering if I should take one online, does anyone have any leads? so far I only got UBC, and even then it seems like a grad school course... thanks

Ok I know it's early but I figure it is never too early to start to freak out about slp applications... I'll start. My overall gpa is garbage. However so far for the the last 20 it is 3.67(ddropped from 3.7 after I took syntax. .. stupid syntax) I currently volunteer with school kids wity artic disorders, I worked with aba therapist, I tutor a private client for an slp and total I have over 140 hours of volunteering im also volunteering at a rehab doing research. So far I only got 20 hours to do but I hope that number will at least quadruple by September My top choices are uoft and western because of my family obligations I can't move too far and I'll also be applying to a few schools in the states like buffalo and Detroit and pits burgh Ok I think I'm done..!

her boss sounds great but thank you -
this is the list i have so far for schools that have online option california state university northridge idaho state university meridian university of wisconsin eau claire university of vermont im from canada so im now leaning towards an online degree because i have certain family obligations here which are hard to leave. if anyone has more schools id appreciate any additions to the list. also any advice on online masters? do jobs look down on online degrees? if it was a choice between my online degree and someones actual school degree would i lose the job? kinda like i hear the university of phoenix online school is not exactly held in high regard.... and if anyone is in an online program right now would love to hear some opinions as wel. is it hard to focus? considering that you dont have to show up to class, etc any advice is appreciated thanks

broad pre reqs
OverCaffeinated replied to OverCaffeinated's topic in Speech-Language Pathology Forum
That's so annoying. I emailed asha and they said it's up to the director. Based on page 4. All it says on page 4 Is Has demonstrated knowledge of the biological sciences, physical sciences, statistics, and social/behavior sciences. If u pass the course seems like u have the knowledge sigh -
such as stats and bio, can those be credit / no credit? without a grade?

online 2nd post bacc
OverCaffeinated replied to OverCaffeinated's topic in Speech-Language Pathology Forum
can someone at least answer the SECOND question??? -
Got thinking of maybe taking a year to get my second post bacc in csd. There is lots of online options to choose from. So 2 questions 1. Which one did u choose and why 2. If my program is online would it still be ok to ask those professors for a reference ? In this case would it be better to just do an in class one I mean if the professors never see you can they still give you a proper reference ?
-
so in canada, we dont have undegrad in csd, so in order for me to get the required pre req courses that asha put forward, im taking a one year post ungrad, grad certificate program from a college here it is for reference http://www.georgiancollege.ca/academics/full-time-programs/communicative-disorders-assistant-coda/ http://www.durhamcollege.ca/programs/communicative-disorders-assistant-graduate-certificate there is 2 more. so these courses are gonna be my pre reqs so it should at least be obvious that i am now serious about my education... if anything...

so anyway, my undergrad gpa will be garbage low, even if i ace ALL of my courses in the next 2 years it will be 2.7.... however, i plan on taking a post bacc certificate for speech language pathology assistant (this is in canada, so this is what it is called) however all the courses im taking now count towards my last 20 courses / 10 credits / 60 credits however u wanna put it and so far im getting a 3. something in those so i plan on kicking that up. in my post bacc cert which is 1 year i plan on doing well. so say i get 3.8 in that, is that a significant enough improvement to get me into schools? considering this certificate will covert what i need in terms of csd courses (since i dont have a lot of options in undergrad as of right now) thoughts?
