  1. Sent you a message
  2. Oh btw I emailed my POI at York (developmental science stream btw -- I think I'm the only one here) on Monday and she very nicely told me that she already offered the spot to someone else. Good luck to everyone else!!

    CGS-M 2015-2016

Not sure but that sounds so promising! Grats to you two ^^.
  4. I guess you can call it that in Canada. Yeah what would you have done lol, just curious @_@ say the real reason, or you don't know? Or make up an answer?!
  5. He asked why I didn't go to the school I was applying to for undergrad... Real answer: I had low confidence in myself so I didn't want to bother with the 99% chance of rejection Answer I actually gave: ... I don't remember why *awkward nervous laugh* He also asked me what highschool I went to :s why does that even matter ...
  6. Oh man that might be the case XD... geez
  7. Ahh... I guess I'll email my POI tomorrow... Thanks for the replies you two!!!
  8. Wow, glad to know that York's open house may be for clinical and clinical-development only(?). Do you by any chance know anyone else that applied to York, but for the other streams? XD; I applied to developmental science but no news yet... and I was worried that I wasn't invited to the open house.
  9. Yeah I feel you XD. When I first read it, I was like hmmm what should I doooo?!?!?!!, but then I got distracted with testing participants and forgot about it until I was all tired out, which helped me think more calmly on what I should do (or not do) aka what I wrote to you haha!! But I'm also glad they sent that email! It's so nice of them to write something so personal and 'fun'(?). I just wish it's in a better location
  10. Oh yeah... I guess compared to yours, mine was closer to the deadline ><; . The system sounds kind of buggy too... is it too late to thank that POI for reminding you? Either way, maybe you should call the admissions office for another application update. Then let your POIs know (and thank that one who reminded you again) it is considered a late application, but emphasize how much you want to attend the program without going overboard/wordy? Say something like "I hope you will still consider me" at the end, and hope that they reply with something that you can gauge their interest?! If your application isn't considered late, just let your POIs know you have submitted your application and that you look forward to hearing from them thank you for your consideration blablabla. Personalize each email a little, and I would make it a short email like, 4 sentences at most... So that's what I'd do if I submitted a late application with my top choice ><. I don't think I could sleep or do anything properly if I didn't contact them at all, even if I ended up with a cold reply...
  11. Thanks!! Hmmm I don't think it's necessary, but if laurier is anyone's first/second choice, I think contacting might help them sleep better xD? Since this email is so welcoming, I would definitely take this chance to voice out small and big concerns/questions with my POI. That way I might be a little more memorable, and probably be less stressed, too. That said though, I'm not going to contact anyone just because that'd actually give me more stress, plus my feeling about Laurier hasn't changed since we last talked about it in our private messages haha~ How bout you? XD
  12. Similar experience here! I uploaded some of my documents late and panicked like you. I immediately contacted the admissions office asking how this would affect my application, and then it turns out my application wasn't late after all because I paid the fee on time! Before I received that answer though, I also contacted my POI in a panic and honestly told her that I mixed up the deadlines and that I hope she would still consider me this year or next... but I wish I hadn't done that because she would've never known my mistake lol. She was very nice about it and said she'd consider me this and next year. So have you already asked the admissions people to confirm the status of your application? Depending on their answer, you can figure out whether to actually email your POI... assuming the invites were sent by the program director. If the invites were sent by faculties, I have no idea if it would be wise or unwise to contact your POI about it... hopefully someone else have better advice for you if my case doesn't help >_<;; Good luck!!
  13. Any Laurier applicants? I received an email from a faculty I think, acknowledging the wait to come ... and an implied confirmation that all of my documents have been received.
  14. Just finished my call XD. Ditto this. edit: No need to send in official transcripts until there's a conditional acceptance!
  15. Hi Mandy P., thanks for letting me know. I also uploaded an unofficial transcript, but no confirmation email... I can't wait to ask tomorrow ahh >_<...
  16. Thanks for clarifying! I don't think I can drop by York any time soon . But hopefully the person on the other end of the phone call will be understanding...
  17. Ahhh oh my goshhh I wish I sent it then instead of thinking that I could save mail money (And it's not even that expensive compared to the actual application fee). I'll give them a call tomorrow and send in my transcripts asap eek. Did you guys also submit an official degree certificate?
  18. Hi there! Welcome to the forum . And thanks for sharing! I didn't receive news about York's open house, but I did receive just now an email about the documents in my application. The only thing missing in my application is my official transcript, which the website said it's okay to not send yet, and I think a secretary confirmed this too... but now I'm wondering if I should just mail it in... :S did you send yours?
  19. Thanks for the update, Psyc101!
  20. I think the profs I talked to said April. And np C10H12N20 ^^!
  21. The head of the department C10H12N20 mentioned was probably referring to the part I bolded. WLU also wrote something like that, where you could choose to propose a study or write a statement about the program, answering the why questions C10H12N20 mentioned!
  22. Thanks for your input, FacelessMage. It helps to have a second opinion... I won't reschedule! I feel bad asking the other RA to miss the lab meeting so that I can go have lunch with people, albeit it's not a lunch with friends, it still feels weird so I decided against asking @_@. But yeah if someone were in my position, I wouldn't mind taking their place unless the grad student/faculty minded...
  23. That's very interesting! I wanted to examine similar stuff to your little description here, but I got a little distracted with other topics. Good luck with your applications!
  24. Hmmm you guys, I was asked if I had time to join a faculty and some prospective students for lunch... but I'm already missing a lab meeting that day because I'm testing older adult participants, who are super valuable and I don't want to risk annoying them by rescheduling, you know? So I apologized to faculty saying that I cannot attend unfortunately, but if she doesn't mind keeping me updated with the details just in case my participants cancel... I'm wondering if this was the right choice... I will still see her on the day after, but I feel like I'm missing out on a lot... this lunch could make a no/maybe to a yes... but... ugh I don't know >_< what would you guys do?
  25. I need to read much more carefully ... just found out that one of my school (wilfred laurier) does count references... and they don't want more than 700 words! Yeeeesh... @~900 right now... thanks tho, dedi! Glad to know UofT doesn't ><.
