....there are people who are like "oh goodness well at one school only FIVE faculty members are recruiting me whereas at another school THE ENTIRE DEPARTMENT is calling me 24/7 and I am uncertain about the former school's actual desire for me to attend their program" and then there are people who are like "oh yes, my friend was accepted to so many schools, they were able to get a $40k stipend and an amazing apartment and a god damn limo service" ...like there is a fine line between divulging helpful information that allows users of this website to determine if their experiences are the norm re: grad school admissions/helping people figure out what to do with offers and applications (and so on) and just telling absurdly unrealistic stories (true or untrue) that make everyone in realistic (read: mostly rejections, probably one or two funded acceptances) situations feel useless and horrible about themselves and their future careers nobody wants to hear about how every department in north america will sell the souls of every member of their faculty to recruit you as a graduate student when most of us will beg for a funded acceptance at any good department, so stop, shut up, please.

For anyone who applied to UOregon: the admissions committee is meeting this afternoon (so, now) to make decisions, and we should hear very soon.

Exercise and eating (the two combined cancel each other out, which works)...I also tried meditating, which was somewhat helpful, and forced myself to take a couple 2-day breaks from the internet/using my phone if it didn't interfere with necessary work. As much as this site has been a source of valuable information, especially with regard to putting together an application, I think it really affected my anxiety. It is so easy to obsess when there is an almost constant stream of information and speculation, though knowing other people are going through the same thing is helpful. It was good to realize I wasn't the only one completely freaking out when adcoms started to meet/send things out to applicants.

Still no word from Columbia for me -- website is still saying "submitted". Does this mean I'm probably accepted to the MA? This is so confusing!

I have no idea where to put this topic, so hopefully, this is appropriate: I was accepted to a PhD program via email from the DGS, funding info and other documents attached. The DGS said he and some graduate students currently in the program will be in touch soon. Do I need to respond to the acceptance email saying "thank you"? I have no clue what proper etiquette surrounding this is, but I initially assumed I would thank everyone and talk to them when they "get in touch soon". Help! It's also important to note that I intend to accept this offer (at least 95% sure), but wouldn't say that until I had the opportunity to at least talk to people in the department a bit first.

Claiming an Indiana acceptance! Indiana is probably my top choice, so I'm very excited. Who else got in? re: the Columbia acceptance -- it was a phone call, apparently, so I'm guessing that it was a call from a POI and that admissions have generally not been finalized. This would be pretty early, indeed.

Very dim hope here as well, but at least it's some hope!

I called Boulder and they said they're still making decisions and more people will be admitted in the coming one to two weeks.

This reminds me: for anyone who applied to UChicago, I called last week and asked when we could expect to hear, and apparently they are a bit behind schedule, but said no later than early March (probably mid to late February).

Hi! Just a quick reminder to those posting in the results search to post stats along with your general result and information! It's very helpful for all of us to see common themes (or a lack thereof) among rejections and acceptances.

Do we have any idea which schools we may possibly hear from this week? After looking at the results search from years past, this week seems like it could either be a big one or somewhat dead. Has anyone spoken to schools about when admissions decisions will be released (other than those which have already sent some information out)?
