I know at my school last year they didn't have any TA positions for spring so they ended up more or less just tossing out the applications. I would only apply on a certainty of available funding.

Someone I know who applied to UT didn't get his rejection letter until 2 months into his new graduate program.

I was told that VT has made some decisions, but that no final decision has been made on my application. I'm interpreting that to mean that I did not get in...

If anyone applied to Alabama they appear to have already made a lot of the decisions.
