  1. Rejection from Texas A&M received today. Terse generic email, didn't even get a letter. Well, I don't like you either, TAMU. Sigh.
  2. I just checked my application and there is still no decision, but there is a notification bar saying the goal is within ten business days.
  3. Thank you for that, this waiting thing is getting seriously difficult. I keep having dreams about checking my email and even in those there's no news!
  4. Ahh, I failed to recognize that. Oh well, thanks anyway.
  5. I applied there. I'm not sure if they admit international students for their MA but I guess i'll find out. It's a perfect fit for me. How's the environment/profs? Do you know when they generally release decisions? What are you studying there?

  7. Waiting, waiting, waiting... I am getting SO antsy for any sort of news.
  8. Yeah, I thought that was obvious.
  9. Rejected from Michigan. Expected as the app I sent them was really unfinished due to their due date being December 5th.
  10. I could look it over for you, but metaphysics is not a strong point of mine.
  11. I second that.
  12. Is anyone going to audit classes while they wait? I just found out I get to sit in on a 20th century course this spring (and hopefully and Existential Literature class as well). I'm super excited!
  13. It can be, but that is why we do the work, right? They should really fix that part of their system for next year. Ugh, I know what you mean. Especially with Michigan's app which was due December 5th (why?!). My writing sample was not completely finished so I turned it in as it was, and plus the statement of purpose...I cringe at the thought of it. The first four I put in I had next to no confidence in despite working on the materials for months. It just feels too final once you hit that submit button. The clarity of hindsight is HD. I started feeling better about my applications after the 5th one. It's really a learning process in itself, and probably why second-year applicants fare better than they did their first time through. I'm comforted by the thought that if I happen to get shut out this year, at least next year I will have a much better grasp of what I'm doing.
  14. You are forgiven, it's an easy assumption to make in this field. Good luck in your applications as well!
  15. Was it University of Oregon? I noticed they had two places to upload a writing sample. I just uploaded it twice. I figured it couldn't hurt.
  16. Wow, you seem to be remarkably similar to me! I'm also applying to W. Ontario's theory and criticism program. That's the first I've heard of someone else applying there. Good luck to us both! We should probably be friends, I assume you are into continental philosophy and critical theory?
  17. I feel that my applications were not as great as I could have made them and am expecting mostly rejection letters. Hoping to get into an MA at the least. I was lucky enough to have a few fabulous letter-writers, one of which had a few connections and let me know he put in word with them directly for a few of the schools I applied to. I get to job-hunt while I wait for word back, and probably listen to records and play board games and drink a lot of wine and plan for next years applications in case the worst-case scenario happens.
  18. Tufts is a very analytical MA program, which is why I chose not to apply to it. Otherwise I think most MA programs cover all the philosophical bases. I'd suggest looking through faculty and finding out which MA programs have analytical-leaning faculty.
  19. Probably late to this thread, but my writing sample is a re-write of my senior paper and is on the topic of art forms and alienation in Karl Marx and Walter Benjamin. That paper also sparked the formation of my areas of interest, so it is very much within them. In fact, if I get accepted I plan to write my thesis/dissertation on a topic somewhere in that area.
