Congrats!!

I was accepted to the title iv e program today!! Is anyone going to the new student reception next week??

Barry Goldman called me today! I've been accepted to the CYF concentration!!

Mines is the same day but at 845am. Im nervous but excited. I hoping it all goes well.

Yay!! When's your interview??

The interviews are march 25th and 26th. If you dont hear anything by next week, you could send an email to check on your status.

The initial email provided the dates of the interviews and requested that I reply back with which date I'd like to interview. It also stated "be sure that you understand the parameters of the Title IV-E program so that you’ll be more relaxed during your interview" Once I responded with my preferred interview date, I recieved more detailed information including the time of my interview, how long it would last, and where it would take place. At the end of this email it stated "You will be notified of the results of the interview to the IV-E program after all the applicants have been interviewed and final admission to the School of Social Welfare will depend upon acceptance by the Title IV-E Stipend Program."

I just received an email inviting me to the title iv e interview!!! Im nervous and excited. Are there any current iv-e students on here that can provide some insight on what to expect in the interview? Thanks!

I emailed Cathy today. She said title iv e applicants should be hearing from her office within a week!!

I had my mom check the mail for me. I got accepted!!!!!!! I'm still waiting to hear back from uc Berkeley and sjsu but I'm really excited. I applied to the title iv e program as well so I'm hoping I'll hear something about that soon.

Congrats!! I applied to east bay as well but I'm out of town and cant check my mail . Did you apply to the regular 2 year program or title iv e?

I applied to sjsu as well and it's one of my top choices. I previously worked in sj with foster youth and I love all of the community and supportive resources they have for them.If I get in I'll be really excited to get back there. Is anyone applying for the title iv stipend??

I did and I'm also super nervous! This is my first time applying but I have a lot of experience working with foster youth so I really hope I get in.

I'm not sure which CSU's you're applying to but for sjsu you have until January 2nd to complete the csu mentor application

Today is my first deadline. One of my letter writers waited until 11:55pm to submit her letter. I can sleep peacefully now.

You're not alone. I'm still working on my analytical statement and making final touches to my SOP and personal history statement. I'm getting really anxious with the deadline only ONE week away!

I'm also applying to CSUs, I just wrote in the names of my professional references and the organization they work for. Your reccommenders wont recieve anything if you put their names in.

I would contact the admission coordinator. They only look at the verbal score

Just so you know the msw at Berkeley doesnt have a minimum GRE score. They accept students with a range of scores so I wouldn't stress too much if the rest of your application is strong

Graduated in 2012 with a BA in Sociology (social welfare concentration) 3.6 overall GPA; 3.8 major GPA So-so GRE scores 2 years of full time work with current and former foster youth; Americorps alum (Public Allies); currently working with underserved adults in workforce development program Why are you applying for this? I'm really interested in working with foster youth to improve their educational outcomes. Becoming a child welfare worker gives me the opportunity to better understand the difficulties foster youth face as well as being able to serve them holistically before moving forward to advocate for their educational needs on mezzo and macro levels

From what I understood the SOP should discuss what led you to pursue a msw and what you plan to do once you have the msw. This is also the statement where you mention the concentration you're interested in and how/why it connects to your future career goals. Your PHS should describe your personal connection to social work

I attended the info session today and it definitely gave me better idea of how to differentiate between the statement of purpose and personal history statement. I would love to send you some ideas I have and also hear about your experience so far in the program.

Hi! I'm planning to apply Berkeley this year. My biggest concern is the personal statement as I'm having a hard time getting started. Do you have any idea why you weren't accepted last year?

Hi! I've decided to apply to CSU East Bay, SJSU, and UC Berkeley. I will be applying for the Title IV-E stipend as well. Applications haven't opened just yet but I have my letter of recommendation writers confirmed and I am beginning to write my personal statements and revising my resume. I'm super excited but also really nervous to go through this entire process. If anyone has any advice to share, please let me know! Good luck!
