  1. The e-mail said that we had until May 1st to decide. So, I'm assuming they will be sending out more acceptances this week! I thought the interview thing was really weird. I didn't have to do an interview or anything before I was accepted.
  2. Also, are you the one wondering about when we have to respond by in the results search? I was given until May 5th to decide, but I will be responding right away when they send out the response form.
  3. I just heard back this morning - I was accepted off of the wait list, but I will be denying as I've already decided to go elsewhere. If I could give you my spot I would!!! Crossing my fingers that you hear soon!!!!
  4. Haha, thank you so much! I got extremely lucky. Looking at your stats, I'm very surprised that I would be higher on the wait list than you are! Whitewater is coming off as a bit unorganized to me - I actually took myself off of the wait list when they sent another survey out on Friday, so I was really confused when I heard from them this morning. I'm sure you're up there on the wait list...hoping you get good news soon!!!!
  5. I just got accepted off of Whitewater's wait list this morning but denied my spot...I hope a spot opens up for both of you!!! Keeping my fingers crossed for you guys!!!!!
  6. I'm glad I'm not the only one nervous about rejecting other acceptances! I only got one acceptance initially, and was accepted off the wait list at one of my other top choices yesterday. It doesn't make sense for me to go there because it's no better than the school I've already decided to go to and it's much more expensive - but it still took me wayyyy too long to send the e-mail denying my acceptance!!! Also, CONGRATS on getting off the wait list at SCSU!! I know how crazy their process was this year. That's so exciting.
  7. I e-mailed today to see what was up as I hadn't heard yet - I'm waitlisted and they said we would hear most likely on Thursday or Friday. Just wanted to let you know!!
  8. I would definitely recommend stopping by their office hours to ask. I feel like it's important to make the connection in-person, especially if you may not have had them in class for a while. Even if you know the professors really well, I'd still suggest stopping by their office. If they don't have any scheduled office hours or are almost always off campus like yours are, try e-mailing them and ask when would be a good time to stop by their office. I would only use e-mail if it would be almost impossible to ask in person. I e-mailed one of my professors, but only because she had relocated to Colorado. When I asked my professors, I asked them if they'd be willing to write me a positive letter of recommendation for grad school. You would think that it would be obvious that you're asking for a positive letter but you want to make sure that if they're not going to be able to write about you in a positive light or they don't know enough about you that you can ask someone else. I would also come prepared with a folder with your transcripts, a list of your activities/accomplishments/experience, and a draft of your statement of purpose, because they'll most likely ask you for it at some point. Hopefully that helps!
  9. I second this. I contacted a school to see where I was on the wait list and they were able to at least let me know which "quadrant" I was in. Make sure they didn't specifically tell you to not contact them about where you are on the wait list though...I had one school do that!
  10. I honestly don't understand why schools don't send out all of their decisions at once. Waiting for a decision while watching others get theirs is a pretty rough process. The posts on the results page are interesting. I find it hard to believe that only one person on Grad Cafe got accepted, while a huge amount got wait listed. At this point, I don't care if I'm rejected, but I just need some closure. I considered e-mailing them today to ask when they will be sending the rest of their decisions out, but decided I would wait a few days. Let me know what you find out if you decide to call!
  11. Anyone here still waiting to hear from Cleveland State? Lots of waitlists and an acceptance on the results page...I have an acceptance at one of my top schools, so if I'm rejected I won't be heartbroken, but I still want to know!
  12. Bumping this thread in case there's anyone else who has any info on CSU. There's a ton of waitlists and one acceptance on the results page...this is the only school that I haven't heard from and not knowing is killing me!!
  13. That's great news!! I really hope spot opens for you I haven't heard anything yet... Hopefully I'll hear tomorrow.
  14. Hi everyone! Does anyone know when UWSP will be notifying people about GAs? The official acceptance letter I got from them said we would be notified separately but not when. Anyone else going to the open house on April 11th? So excited! Also, I made a Facebook group for anyone considering attending here! https://www.facebook.com/groups/1559311477673142/
  15. I haven't heard anything either. They're the only school I have yet to hear from. Someone on the results page said that they just started reviewing applications recently - which is strange when they had a mid-January deadline.
  16. University of Wisconsin - Stevens Point (UWSP) UWSP SLP Grad School Class of 2017 Closed group, just request to join https://www.facebook.com/groups/1559311477673142/
  17. Definitely feeling this. I still have no idea where I'm going to be next year as I don't have any acceptances yet and am still waiting on three schools. My concentration has been going down the drain - good thing I'm on spring break right now!!!
  18. I was also wait listed at UWM. Hoping to hear good news from Stevens Point and Whitewater this week!!!
  19. I've been told by both schools that I've been wait listed at so far that they won't start informing those on the wait list until after April 15th, since most people will probably wait until then to decide where they're going to accept. At this point, the schools will have a pretty solid idea of how many spots they still have to fill and can start accepting people on the wait list. Hope this helps! Good luck!
  20. @HappyThoughts - If you click your username in the upper right hand corner and click My Settings, you'll see "Signature" on the left.
  21. Does anyone have information about MSU-Mankato? I applied there but I really don't know much about the school or when they will be sending out decisions - it was around this time last year!
  22. In regards to EdFind, I would take the info on there with a grain of salt. I've heard through the grapevine that these numbers, including UWM's, aren't always very accurate. I definitely think it's accurate that some people could accepted with lower than a 3.5, especially if they have good GRE scores and the other aspects of your application are strong (letters of rec, personal statement, relevant experience, etc.) I think it's true for most grad schools that if you have deficits in certain areas but the rest of your application is stellar, you still have a chance. I don't know if you've seen this, but UWM's website has a chart for stats of past year's admitted students. I would use this information over EdFind. The average overall GPA last year was 3.56, so about half of applicants had lower than a 3.5 I'd say. Our NSSLHA chapter had a "Getting Into Grad School" event with the graduate program coordinator, and she said that they usually look for an average GRE percentile of 50% (average of percentiles for V, Q and AW). Your GRE scores are great so I think you're good there. I do know that the program got around 330 applications this year, which is a ton, and more than they've had in past years. I hope this helps a little bit! Friday seems like a lifetime away.
  23. I go to UWM for undergrad and it seems to me like they accept both our own undergrads and those from other schools pretty evenly. If I remember correctly, only a few of our current grad students (first years at least) did their undergrad here. If anyone else knows anything differently feel free to correct me but from my observations, being an outside applicant won't hurt your chances at all. Feel free to ask if you have any more UWM questions
