Congrats to more Berkeley acceptees! You guys rock! And group hug for the fellow rejectees... It's not the end of the world BTW, has anyone heard ANYTHING from Cornell comp lit (POI, intels, etc.)? It's my top choice... although I keep telling myself to stay calm I just can't!

Oh god. What have I conjured up... Guys, I just got the official Berkeley rejection. Not even that sad though... Somehow I feel relieved. I still have 3 to go! (well, technically, 2 and a half... Best of luck to you all!

I don't mean to dishearten anyone, but... I think I'm gonna start mentally preparing myself for a Berkeley rejection Edit: just want to clarify (in case of causing panic attacks as I know there are multiple UCB applicants here), not that I had any 'hard evidence', this is only me trying to stay realistic for my own sanity.

I cannot speak for others, for my part I simply do not like the message that comment implies: if your records are not as impressive as mine, you should think twice before you apply. I assume that the result board exists because applicants usually crave for any information related to this nebulous process, and this is exactly why people should at least try to be as objective as possible about stats and facts, instead of sending out (somehow) intimidating vibes. Truth is I didn't like it so I teased it, sorry if my former comment sounded nasty.

Also "extremely good test scores". At first I thought he/she was being cynical, until I reached the 4 languages part.

I share your hope! That being said, I still hope they notify BEFORE 18th of Feb. Rejection or acceptance, I just DO NOT want to spend my new year with this nausea of the unknown!

Speaking of, I actually have a friend from my current cohort who wrote her dissertation on lyrics studies (as in pop/rock songs, not lyrical poetry).

The time frame I was given was a pretty vague 'in February', which starts tomorrow. So.... don't die yet!
