  1. i highly suggest doing a master's program. it will boost up your GPA, give you some great research experience, and give you an edge to your application if you decide to go for a PhD. This is what I did and made my application pretty strong compared to what it was before. I'm actually doing an Erasmus Mundus Fellowship for a European Master's in Comparative Morphology. The research ranges from stem cell research, embryology, molecular pharmacology and nutrition sciences, to primate research - it's incredibly diverse. http://www.eucomor.net/ everyone should check it out. it's a fully funded master's program and every semester you learn at a new university throughout europe, so they basically pay you to travel and learn. i recommend contacting the program director and seeing if you can still send in your application, but probably do it ASAP! They really want more Americans in the program (i'm the only one)
  2. possibly, this could mean that you're rejected or there could (hopefully) be another wave of invites being sent out. I didn't hear back from Harvard when everyone already heard back, so I just e-mailed to confirm the rejection (womp womp) So it could be bad or it could be good!
  3. Any attending at the Columbia university medical center? Would like some advice regarding the program and campus!
  4. Oh boy, yeah it took so much time. I started applying in October until December. I was on a frenzy, but now its been nice to "relax" and wait for interview invites. It was a really stressful few months but I'm glad its over!! I worked on my SOP and sent it to as many of my lab mentors as I could, I generally didn't personalize it to the school other than mentioning the people I wanted to work with. But there are so many ways to writing the SOP you can do so much with it
  5. I applied to about 16 different programs because I was able to get application fee waivers. The only thing I really had to pay for was sending the GRE score, plus programs like Madison and Harvard will let you apply to multiple programs under one fee waiver, so I just said screw it and applied. I felt bad for my recommenders because they couldn't keep up, but I've been having a lot of success getting interviews just because of the sheer number of schools I applied to. I understand that normally it costs money, but anyone looking to apply again in the future - check out the University's rules for application fee waivers! It saved me so much money!
  6. I assume that Stanford and Rockefeller are waiting until after the New Year to send back invites? Also I'm still hopefully for Princeton@Biology, Harvard MCO, and Harvard SysBio but haven't heart anything back. Anyone have any info regarding their invites? At this point most of my January/February is filled up with interviews already....
  7. Interview at Columbia Genetics and Development!
  8. ughhhh this is a nightmare! i had trouble getting in my official transcript with Johns Hopkins Neuroscience and had to speak with an admissions officer like 5 times, and eventually they said that my application was complete. Now I look at my application and it says that it is incomplete online! Has anyone had this problem? I sent an e-mail to the director but from what I've seen most of the interviews have been sent out... is it too late for them to look at my application?
