  1. has both a discussion on Iowa State and advisor reputation vs. department reputation/rankings.
  2. Saw some JHU Biostatistics PhD action recently (rejections...) --anyone heard back? I didn't receive an interview invite, but still believe there's a chance for whatever reason. Like a thirsty guy still waiting for a girl to text back after days of radio silence.
  3. Speaking of Berkeley... for Biostatistics, anyone know if that's a wrap if we haven't gotten an acceptance yet, or is it quasi-rolling?
  4. Yeah Anakin, I would give an arm and a leg for an email filter that lets through only PhD application-related news.
  5. Hmm... just saw a UC Berkeley Biostatistics acceptance appear.
  6. Congratulations, PackersFan. Hm, I haven't received one today... not good...
  7. Thanks for the update. When did you ask? Seems very quiet on the Hopkins front since the one interview posting.
  8. Sounds like we need to hype up this party and add to the anxiety. Aside from NC State, it seems like most schools are slower than last year, but I could be imagining things.
  9. Hm, for what it's worth I've gotten one late in the evening on a Saturday.
  10. Did an incident occur? If not, no one probably even noticed. I did not hold back on the drinking at the one weekend I've had so far. Most students were afraid to start drinking so I figured I would set the curve. Maybe it even shows good initiative and leadership.
  11. Hmm... now I see a posting in Results for a JHU Biostatistics interview invite.
  12. Have you thought about delaying a year and applying rather than be constrained by what schools' deadlines have yet to pass? With your background, you could probably be more aggressive in school selection.
  13. I've since been accepted to UNC Biostatistics PhD, but have not heard from University of Washington.
  14. Congratulations, I have not heard from UNC one way or the other. University of Washington Biostatistics came out on this Friday last year.
  15. Hello, I was wondering as to the extent to which Math/Stat GPAs can offset Overall GPAs, and vice versa--that is, the trade-off between the two in admissions. For example, I am looking to apply to Biostatistic PhD programs; I graduated from undergraduate a few years ago. My Math/Stat GPA between my completed undergraduate record (alma mater should be considered reasonably rigorous; average old SAT score for entering students was in the mid-1400s) and courses I have taken since then as a non-degree student is around ~3.7-3.8, depending on how you weight the credits and what you count as math/stat courses (although I have taken the Calculus Sequence, Probability Theory, Linear Algebra, Mathematical Statistics--so those at the very least). However, my overall undergraduate GPA was around ~3.5.
