  1. Well I will be attending American SIS. No funding from the other DC schools made my decision easy.
  2. According to Foreign Policy Magazine, Princeton WWS is a better school. I do not know what exactly is their methodology in determining which school is better, but you can read about the rankings here: http://foreignpolicy.com/2015/02/03/top-twenty-five-schools-international-relations/ and here: https://trip.wm.edu/reports/2014/rp_2014/ I hope that helps.
  3. Let us SSP applicants come together and hope that decisions are released by Friday.
  4. Something to consider when living in DC is that it has one of the highest STD rates in the country http://dcist.com/2015/03/report_dc_has_one_of_the_highest_st.php
  5. I will most likely be attending American SIS as they gave me a generous scholarship and RA position. Still waiting on Georgetown SSP though...
  6. There is a program that my friends in medical school are taking advantage of. Keep in mind most of these guys are in debt $200k-$300k. What they do is they work for non-profits and by doing so they drop the payback period from 20 years to 10 years. After which the loans are forgiven. So if you have a lot of student debt, find your self a non-profit NGO or think-tank, work for them for 10 years and your loans will be forgiven. Edit: yes you must make payments on your loans in that period. It is called the Public Service Loan Forgiveness, Here is more info: https://studentaid.ed.gov/sites/default/files/public-service-loan-forgiveness.pdf
  7. At this point, I would not care if Georgetown rejected me. I just want a decision so I can get my life in order!
  8. Just got an email. Accepted w/ no funding. Not going. Declined.
  9. Any redditors out there will find this resource on Washington DC valuable: https://www.reddit.com/r/washingtondc/wiki/moving
  10. I created this poll for all the International relations/affairs/security peeps in the forum. Which school will you be attending? I know some of us are still waiting on decisions, but to those that have already decided, please answer the poll Voting is private btw.
  11. Pavlik, that is a sick guide! Thanks a lot. This should be posted in the city guide section.
  12. Paying a deposit does not necessarily mean you have to enroll in that particular school, its just meant to guarantee you a spot for the fall semester. Now if you end up getting into SAIS, your deposit for the other school is gone since it is non-refundable. You will have pay another deposit to SAIS.
  13. Thank you very much for that resource. I am looking at Dupont Circle, Adams Morgan, and Cleveland Park. I want to be close to the metro. I assume the blue areas are similar to the South and West Side of Chicago aka Chiraq?
  14. Those that are still waiting, anything?
  15. I will be moving out to Washington DC this August and I want to get some feedback from those that have lived on/off campus as I have never done that. What was your experience like and do you recommend living alone or with roommates? I do not have any roommates lined up therefore I will have to live with complete strangers (which i do not want to do), otherwise I will just live by myself. Your input and tips are appreciated.
  16. They announced on their twitter account (@sspadmissions) that decisions will be released "Late March, Early April".
  17. I am in the same boat as kaseyleigh and would appreciate some feedback as well.
  18. According to Foreign Policy, MSFS is the best IR Masters program in the world with SAIS right behind it.
  19. You are right Bombaygunner. Shots of Bombay on me!
