got my financial aid award and it just has direct loans on it? i was really really hoping for something more. i'm also confused; if we got awarded scholarships by the department, would they show up on our financial aid summary, or are they something else entirely? i just want to know that i actually have that money. i'm really worried that i won't be able to afford to go with juts 20,500 in stafford loans...

wait...... so if they're being awarded the first week of class, will we be able to use them for tuition? i'm confused.

has someone called in to admissions yet?

has anyone heard anything back about financial aid with university of southern california? when did people start hearing back last year? it would really be nice if i could know SOMETHING so i can start planning for this hella expensive school

omg THANK YOU so much @kurkz!! as someone who has committed to USC and who is looking to do macro social work, it's so gratifying to hear that they have a great infrastructure for it. SO EXCITED!!!! have you committed? what are you looking to do?

@kurkz can you tell us a little bit about your impression of the USC campus?

is it common to get work-study awards from USC? i figured i'd have to take out the PLUS loan anyway to cover the remaining cost, so i'm hoping i get some more scholarships lol

nope still waiting on my financial aid package.

im also still waiting to hear back (from the MSW program). the site says we won't hear back until it's been 6-8 weeks since our materials displayed as "complete" on the application portal, but i'm pretty sure it's been a lot longer than that since mine were updated...

got my financial aid package as well! received 11,500 for the year in scholarships, 2,000 in work study, and 21,000 in federal direct loans.

you definitely shouldn't worry about it. i got accepted by 3 different schools and i was a theatre & dance major, chinese minor in undergrad lol

yep UIC is the last school i'm waiting on. i've heard it's a little easier to get in, but they do take 1,000,000 years to get back to prospective students about admit decisions, so i'm sticking it out till april at least.
