Thanks for the info. I thought the majority of the applicants did not hear from UMN, since only seven people revealed their statuses in the result page.
Mine has not changed yet. If the graduate school officials need to approve rejections, after "final review," maybe the admission process of UMN is the most bizarre one (though I got my BA at UMN).
Anyone claiming the University of Minnesota admits?
My status was changed from "awaiting program decision" to "final review." According to the Graduate School's website, "final review" means that "your program has made its admission decision and University officials are doing a very quick (usually within two business days) final review of your materials before sending out the decision notification." How can I interpret this?
As far as I remember, someone wrote that s/he would send an email to Northwestern to check what was going on there. It looks one was officially rejected and another person was wait-listed. However, my status was not changed. Does anyone have an idea?
After having a BA in the United States, I finished a master's degree in the UK. In my master's program, only 6 percent of students got higher score than 70 averagely. No matter I received a high merit or low merit, they converted them to Bs. And a pass class was converted to C...... In the UK, professors consider that high merit students are eligible for doing PhD work.
The quality of your writing sample will indicate your research ability. If you can submit a good writing sample (and SOP), you do not have to have a MA in Political Science.
Right. I also think we really don't have many things to say about career. I already included everything about the course of study in my SOP. I should cut and paste that part for the question.
Your answer was quite helpful Thanks.
Hi.
If I need to answer to this question, "What do you expect to do with a Ph.D. in political science? Describe the course of graduate study that would best enable you to achieve your goal? Please limit your response to one page," how should I respond? I mean I also need to submit my statement of purpose. Should I cut and paste the career part of my SOP to that section? Only several schools have this kind of question.
