  1. Great to know I'm not the only comm psych person on here. Have you heard anything yet? I've gotten 1 interview so far so I'm starting to be pretty nervous.
  2. Hi everyone! Are there many other people here who applied to Community or Clinical-Community Psychology PhD programs this application season? I've seen a small number of results(e.g 1-2) posted for the programs I applied to and was wondering if that was due to a very small amount of applicants on this site who applied to comm/clinical-comm programs or due to there being a very small amount of invites being sent out. Just trying to get a feel for if anyone else is in the same boat as me.
  3. Can't speak for the others, but I did apply to GA State. Since it has been a few weeks since anyone posted about GASU interviews I am just assuming my application was rejected/figuring the chance I will hear anything positive from them is VERY small. I do understand why some people say you shouldn't assume until you definitely hear you are rejected though--The PI I worked for last year wasn't happy with anyone she interviewed initially but really wanted a student, so she went back through the applications she had initially rejected for interviews and ended up accepting 2 of those people. You never know I guess. This waiting period sucks though! Good luck.
  4. Person who got accepted to UIUC's clinical community program, any chance you could PM me your PI if you are comfortable? Thanks.
  5. Is there anyone else here applying to the community psychology programs at DePaul or Portland State who can clarify what is going on with their interview invites? I've seen one post on the results page for interview invites from each of them from last week. Trying to figure out if the small amount of results page posting means they are done accepting or just that there are not very many people on this site who applied to those programs and I feel like it is a bit early to be contacting the schools directly...? Any info is helpful. Thanks.
  6. Person who submitted for DePaul Community program - was the email from your PI or the program?
  7. Anyone here applying to Bowling Green for Clinical Psych? If so have you contacted the office at all about when they will be sending out interview invites? I'm thinking any day now because all the dates from last year on the GC results page are past. But, just trying to narrow it down.
  8. No problem! Sorry I didn't specify what results website I was talking about. I meant the results webpage on gradcafe. It is a giant online database where people can submit entries that detail when they received results from their programs (acceptance/denial/interviews, etc). Just go to the link below and type in the title of the program and school you want to look up results for in the search bar. Or alternatively you can follow the link provided by grad_wannabe above, since I think the link they provided already narrowed the search in the database down to rhetoric and writing programs. I believe this has results from 2011 to present that have been submitted. I know it probably isn't 100% accurate because it doesn't come from the school directly, but it at least can give you some idea about what to expect! As far as the actual BGSU app website...I can only see the same info as you. I am from MI, so a couple hours from Bowling Green. Are you in the area? Hope this helps! http://www.thegradcafe.com/survey/
  9. Thanks for this thread - I applied to BGSU for a PhD in psychology and was wondering the same thing! I would look through the gradcafe results from past years to get a sense of when BGSU has sent out admission offers/interviews in the past. Like grad_wannabe said this looks like late Feb-mid March for you. So my best guess is you could start seeing responses from the program shortly before/after 2/31/15. For example for my program, BGSU sent out interview invites from 1/15-1/18 the past couple of years. I have yet to see anything from them on the results page and I haven't heard anything personally, but because of these dates I'm thinking I should expect responses from them before 1/31/15. Not sure if this helps since our programs are different but hopefully it puts your mind a little at ease. Good luck!
  10. Thanks so much! At least now I know when a rational time to commence freaking out about being denied will be. GSU is the first of twelve schools I've applied to for me to see any activity from on GradCafe and I haven't received any personal feedback from any either. Le anxiety is overwhelming. Good luck everyone!
  11. Anyone who got the interview invite to Clinical Psych at Georgia State, was it just a general department email or was it a personal one?
  12. Hi everyone, Quick question. Due to a medical emergency this year, I didn't start seriously working on applications until late in the game (I was out all of September and a good chunk of October). When I started, I thought it was better to spend time on my application materials (SOP, GRE's, nailing down schools, etc) instead of emailing professors - so I just skipped that step for many of my schools. Instead I checked websites and, unless someone was listed on the website as not taking students, I decided to apply. One of these schools is North Carolina State U. I found someone who is a great fit for me there, but never emailed them. When I checked the website originally, I swear I saw the prof I want listed as taking students so I began the application. Now the application is due in January and is complete (recommendations included) except for my personal statement. Here's the problem: I am working on the personal statement for this school, and therefore went back to the website to get info on the prof/program that I could mention. However, I noticed while I was there that the list of professors accepting on their website is totally different than it was when I originally saw it. The professor I want to apply to is not mentioned anymore. I checked and sure enough - she has a first year grad student. So I'm thinking I just saw the website before they updated it for this year. Now I don't know what to do. Like I said, my application is nearly done and my recommenders all sent in a letter to this program. I also already paid to send NCSU my GRE scores. I suppose I don't have a definite "no" that this person isn't accepting, but I feel like if they were they definitely were they would be listed on the website with the other faculty listed as "definitely accepting." Should I finish this statement and apply to the school or just leave this application alone and cut my losses? This is a program that would have been one of my top choices if I had gotten an interview. I know this is my fault for not emailing or checking on this program more, but hindsight is 20/20 I guess. :-/ Any feedback will be appreciated. Thanks in advance everyone.
  13. Hi everyone! Anyone here applying to PhD programs in community or law psychology this application season? If so, where are you at in your application process and are you feeling confident? I've seen lots of posts about other psych disciplines but none about these two yet, and the majority of my apps are in either community or law psych. Just trying to get a feel for if there's anyone else out there. :-) Good luck everyone!
  14. I was in the same boat and did email the school to let them know. I was told it would not be an issue as long as everything else is in. I am sure it differs across schools on how late recommenders can be, so I would definitely email the school to let them know and see what they say. From what I've heard it is not uncommon for recommenders to be 1-2 weeks late - although obviously this is not ideal- but 2.5-3+ weeks is pushing it. I'd ask the prof around what date she thinks she will be submitting/how late she will be since "the school wants to know" or something. Then I'd make sure I contacted her right after that date if she did not have it submitted by the time she told you. If it makes you feel better, my roommate last year had one of her recommenders send in a letter a week late, and still got in. I also had an adviser tell me that many committees do not even meet to seriously review applications until after the New Year even though applications are due in mid-December, and that they purposely set the deadlines early to ensure that any late materials (like letters) are in by the time they begin reviewing. I hope this helps! Tl;dr: I've heard: don't freak if a recommender is late because it probably won't affect your application. But do contact the school and keep track of your recommenders.
  15. I'm applying to 13 schools also. :-) Tailoring the SOP's has been the hardest part for me. The recommendations were difficult to keep track of, but I made a spreadsheet to keep track of who submitted what and where which made it significantly easier. Good luck everyone!
