  1. Hey bsharpe! I just messaged you asking where you decided but I guess I found my answer here. Lol. I've submitted an application for a studio apartment in the Central West End which is near WashU. I really like that area and I'm trying to be close to campus at least for the first year. How's apartment hunting going for you?
  2. Yay! Hopefully I see you there! I fell in love with WashU all over again this past weekend.
  3. I'll be messaging you soon! As soon as I get done with classes for the day. Thanks
  4. Accepted into MGG DBBS Program at WashU!! I am soooo excited!!!! This is the best feeling I've had thus far. I'll most likely be attending there. Time to let the other schools know.
  5. A lot..but not as much as usual. Only because I'm flying and I have to turn my phone on airplane mode..lol it was the first thins I did when I landed though!
  6. I think it's a fair question to ask though. They understand how stressful this entire process is so they should not feel "nagged" by you asking when you should expect to hear from them.
  7. I know at least for the Biology umbrella program they accept people periodically (not all at once). There are about 6 interview weekends for us so they want to give everyone a fair chance. I'm not sure how it works for English but maybe email somebody and ask.
  8. Thank you! And yes I did get an alternate interview. I ended up going between my two interviews, so I basically missed a full week of school between those three interviews. I didn't get to experience the whole interview weekend because of this. I wish I had but I still got to talk with some faculty I was very interested in.
  9. Just providing an update. I got through with my interview and even got an acceptance! Happy!!
  10. If you go for a Master's you can just make sure your GPA is really good. From what I've seen on this board a good Master's GPA trumps an average undergraduate GPA.
  11. Congrats! I also got my first acceptance from Dartmouth. I have one more interview and a few responses to await, but It feels good to know that I will be a graduate student come this Fall.
  12. I've been invited for a Molecular and Cell Biology Program at Dartmouth, as well as UNC BBSP. I'm not sure how Dartmouth sends invites but UNC seems to have been sending them in waves so if you haven't heard from them yet I don't think you should count yourself out.
  13. My flight ran into my dinner, so I didn't get to go. Initially, I was told business casual, but with the weather and everything, they seemed to have changed their mind to casual. Not sure how the weather will be where you're at. But I don't see why you should dress in business attire for a dinner. I usually wear a simple dress or skirt with a sweater, which is what I would have been wearing if I went (with leggings and boots). A nice jean and top with a sweater should work as well. But honestly, I can't say. This may vary.
  14. 1. It's likely an interview weekend, but ask them. 2. It depends. Some schools accept only a few, while others accept the majority of the recruits. You might want to ask the coordinator about this as well, or you'll be guessing forever. Or ask someone who went to that interview last year. Even then, it may vary year to year. Maybe search these forums to see if any students (domesti or international) have spoken about this particular school's interview acceptance rates. 3. Depends on the school. I know UPenn seems to do a preliminary skype before inviting for interviews, but of the schools I've been invited to none have done such. Just going to the interview. 4. I highly doubt that. You're international and they're not paying! They totally understand the expenses and wouldnt reject you because of that. The skype interview will suffice. I'm sure you'll be fine.
  15. Lol, yea even with your help I'll probably spend no less than half hour doing this.
  16. This was so helpful! I'll definitely re-word but I get the essence of what you're saying. Thank you. I hope they'll accept this and get me a skype interview/alternate. I appreciate the advice!
  17. I received an email from Vanderbilt today about an interview invite. I've been anxiously waiting for news from Vanderbilt since I submitted my app a month early and I was so excited. But the invite conflicts with both Emory and Dartmouth, who have both already bought my tickets. I am trying to send an email to Vanderbilt explaining the situation but can't seem to find the right words. I want to explore as many options as I can at this point so I would like to ask if a Skype interview is at least possible. But I'm just not sure how to. Anyone have advice?
  18. Just got an interview invite for Vanderbilt Biological Sciences. Unfortunately it clashes with Dartmouth and Emory. Hopefully they'll so skype. I doubt there's an alternate weekend since there are already two dates in the email.
  19. I've heard for UNC-CH, but I applied to the umbrella bio program. My friend got an interview invite from UMich but I think she's doing biostatistics or something of that sort, not med chem. UNC seems to be giving out invites continually though, as opposed to some schools that had a short wave of invites. I'm not sure how UMich is doing it.
