What did you tell them?

I accepted an offer in March. Later I got admission from my top choice where I am deferring my admission to spring(as per suggestion from poi as fund will be available in spring). Now if I decline the first offer, can they charge me for tuition? What should I tell them? The first school is not in cgs while the second school is a member. I signed the offer letter which states I accept the offer. There was no mention what might occur if I decline it later. I am very tensed now. Would appreciate any help.

I am from Bangladesh. I will get tax treaty up to $8000. My stipend is $24000. Fees $2770. Then what would be the tax? (University is in raleigh,NC.)

I got RAship offer. $24000 stipend. But fee is huge. $2770 annual. Can anyone here tell me about the living cost?

I got offer from Ncsu for 1 year (RA with $24000 stipend). The ranking in civil is 22 and in environmental engineering is 30. I like the school but problem is that poi wants me to work in a project related to biology rather than environmental issues. Although he told me there are other projects and he has not decided yet in which project I will work finally. I don't know whether working in the project means that I need to do my PhD on topic related to biology or not. I want to do post doc but confused if I do PhD research on biology related problem, then will it hamper my chance to get postdoc in environmental engineering or not. The second offer is fellowship ($30000) from northeastern university( ranks 40 in civil & 55 in environmental engineering) for 1.5 years. Research is a good fit here. I will be doing collaborative research with two professors. But the problem is university reputation. I don't know what to do? Any help will be appreciated.

I will get a monthly stipend of $1400(after deducting tax and fee). I need to know the living cost in Releigh. I will be attending NCSU this fall. What is the monthly rent? How much are utilities and transportation cost? Is it possible to get an apartment near the campus in $500 range?

During my application, i have mentioned the name of the professors with whom i want to work for my phd. I have emailed them before applying although none of them replied, However, i have to mention their name as it was mentioned in the application to write the name of POI in the sop. Now, it's been 3 month since i applied. But got no reply still. I think the professors whose name i have mentioned have already made offers to other students. Now can I contact any other professor in the department whose name i haven't mentioned in the sop?

I have applied to NCSU on 22 january and got admission on 5th March. I have applied for phd in civil engineering (environmental).

Thank you for your reply. I am actually tensed about job opportunity if i change my research interest into computational biology. I have found that most academic and non academic jobs in environmental engineering requires knowledge on water treatment, water quality etc. I am tensed that if i work on computational biology, it may reduce my possibility to get job in environmental engineering...

I got admission for phd in civil engineering (environmental engineering concentration) in a university that ranked around 30 in my field. i have contacted my POI before applying and he encouraged me to apply saying that he is looking for students. I contacted him again after getting admission. Two weeks later he emailed me back and told me that he is considering me for a project and asked about my interest on the project. The professor also wrote that he has other projects but the funding decision is pending. I am now confused about what to tell him. Although i am very much interested to attend the university, the project topic is about computational biology which is not related with my research interest (water treatment). Now if i tell him that i am interested to work on the project, does it mean that i have to work on this topic for my phd dissertation?

Is there anyone waiting for funding decision? I am from civil engineering... Got admission on March 5th..but didn't hear anything about funding...getting really tensed now...

Still no update for my application.. I guess I am on the waiting list...is tgre anyone else? Do they accept students from waitlists? But again I need fund along with the admission. Is it possible to get fund if anyone get accepted from wait list?

Is there anyone who faced difficulty for having multiple I 20? I am going to accept one offer while I am wait listed in my top choice program. if I get selected into the top choice school after getting I-20 from 1st school and i accept the top choice, will it create any problem? Will I be able to get a second I-20?

So far I got funding from Northeastern university only for PhD in civil and environmental engineering. I am interested in working in academia but NeU has ranking around 50 in us news. Also I saw that there are very few NeU graduate who got into academia. Should I accept this offer or try next year again? My profile (undergrad 3.90, GRE 314, IELTS 7). I tried only two top ranked university this year and got admission from both with no funding. Is there anyone who can tell me about the quality of the program in NeU?

I am tensed that the offer of neu is up to spring 2017. After that I need to look for RA or TA and if I won't be offered summer funding then how can I manage as Boston is very costly and I will receive $20150 per year then without summer funding.

What is the job scenario in environmental engineering? I am confused whether I should do ms or PhD to get job. So far I have an offer for PhD in environmental engineering. POI works with environmental biotechnology for water quality improvement.before making a decision I need to know the job condition. I am also interested in academia but as the school was around 40-50 in ranking, I think I would not be able to get academic job.

Hello, I got accepted into uow for masc and neu for PhD. Waterloo offers 17000 RA. I will be responsible for tuition and fee (11000$) per year. I have asked them for TA but TA is not for first term. I may get TA in winter as I have teaching experience but it is competitive. They said for first term they can give me some job on lab or their chair and can pay me up to $300 per month. Northeastern university gave me fellowship for 5 semester with $30000 annual stipend and full tuition and health insurance waiver. I will do collaborative research with two professor. I had an interview with one of them and she said that generally she provide financial support for all her students. The program is phd in civil and environmental engineering. Now I am confused which program should I choose? Any advice will be appreciated.

Got into ncsu but no funding yet.

I got admitted into one university and they asked me to accept the admission offer by paying enrollment fee before April 15. Now, the problem is that they have send me a second email with fellowship offer with deadline March 13. Can I just accept the fellowship offer now before ensuring my enrollment? I am waiting for decisions from other universities and am worried if I get admitted now and withdrew the enrollment later for other better offer, then it may create some problems. But at the same time I want to accept the funding offer. So, what should i do now? Can I accept the funding offer before accepting the admission?

I got admission into Northeastern university for fall 2015. and I am planning to arrive there in late August. I need some advice on finding housing and signing lease from outside the country. Will it be too late to sign a contract by person in late august? or can anyone sign the contract for me? I have no idea about this. It will be helpful if anyone can give me some insight in this regard.
