Yeah, I too am an extrovert. It seemed like TSRI had a very work hard/play hard attitude. Certainly some of the most intelligent and kind grad students I met at all of my visits. Very excited to be a part of the Scripps family and to learn and grow with such a great group of people.

I am 80% sure I will be attending Scripps in the fall for a chemistry PhD. I have begun looking at appartments and was wondering: [A] where do most graduate students live? where I can find a nice one bedroom for no more than $1250/mo [C] what the commute from that place would be like? further, anything I should know about grad student life would be immensely appreciated. I know Scripps is not for everyone, but I am pretty sure I'll make a good fit. Much appreciated!

Probably going to Scripps for chemistry PhD, trying to find affordable housing up to $1300/mo. Any suitable neighborhoods that come to mind?

Today has been a day of ups and downs: found out my dog has cancer and is dying and literally 10 min later heard from MIT... Very funny how life works!

Just reeived a phone call from an MIT POI indicating acceptance. I applied for organic/catalysis and did not have an interview.

Congratulatiosn to everyone on their acceptances! If history tells us anything, next week should begin with the announcements from Princeton, MIT, and Caltech. The week that follows should be Harvard.

Just received a Scripps interview invitation as well

Berkeley seems to be pushing very hard for my visiting and matriculation. I received a phone call mid-December from a POI, official acceptance emails two weeks letter, and an email today from a POI. What is particularly annoying is scheduling all visiting weekends. Some of them conflict and some schools have specified dates by which you must notify the school of your visitation plan (for planning and reiumbrsement). It would be very helpful if schools had an agreement as to when they would notify potential candidates.

I handwrote notes and bought recommenders nice wine/scotch depending on their preference.
