Hi Congratulations man, misc. fees will be 1000/semester that is 300-250 per month , and taxes will be less than 300 /months so you will have 900 remaining, for accommodation if you find a roommate , you can rent a 2BR apartment at a rate of 500 max with utilities(water/elec) included ;"you do not have to live on campus at a high price!" . you will have remaining in worst case 400 for food and find which i think more than enough , do not worry man the amount is Just fine if you are single.I know it is not great amount , but it might increase in the following years. I know guys with families(wife and child) that lives at 2000 stipend at Purdue. But Try to find a roommate or a bedroom to rent ASAP before prices goes high.check criaglist Good Luck ,

WelI am from Jordan , I got my undergraduate degree from Princess Sumaya University (Jordan) , and I was accepted in a direct PhD degree, I do not hold a MS degree. I have an undergraduate research experience in Instruction scheduling and Register pressure minimization optimizations.

Yes actually , Computer engineering is under electrical and computer engineering department (ECE). I know it is a little bit weird that they are separated , but I will try to take as much as i can coursed from CS department as I am more interested in the software part !!! I will be working at supporting parallel execution on multi-core and heterogeneous architectures , through compilers. it will be nice to know you , specially if you will be working at the same topic.

Hi Guys , i would like to take your advice , i a have been admitted at Purdue(CE), still looking for RA position there , but I get some responses from interested proffs but with out final decision where most of them have many students , in the other hand, i was offered RA at Tennessee (CS) where the proff let me feels that he really wants me to be in his group , by keep asking, and enhancing the offer. I believe it is very nice to work with somebody who thinks that you are very good and smart , while i think at Purdue there will be many super excellent guys , Furthermore, the proff at Purdue have more students than the other. Also the stipend at Purdue will not be as good as the one that i get in Tennessee (2X at summer) + Tennessee is much cheaper. Finally , If i will wait for the responses from Purdue i will most probably miss the deadline for Tennessee, the thing that may let me lost the position , i already extend it ! What do you think, do you think ??

Hi , guys I have to decide between university of Tennessee at Knoxville and university of Kansas for a CS PhD Degree, Both research topics are interesting for me ,both of proffs are new (earned PhD after 2013) , so I am a little bit confused , how to choose ...Knoxville seems to be a better place to live (larger city ) while both of them have almost same life expenses. Any one who have experience in any of them will really help, What about post-graduation opportunities , are they the same for both ?

Hi Guys, I was offered a GRA position with a stipend 1700/m from a university in Kansas state, and i would like to know if i can asks the proff if he can increase the stipends, as I am married and have a child , and i am not sure if the offered amount will be enough to bring my family with me?? But I do not know , of it is ok , or command to do that , or if that will give a band indication about me?. Furthermore, i do not know if such offers are negotiable in general or not?

Hi guys, I was accepted for computer science PhD program at University of Kansas, and one of the proffs there send me a research assistance position offer, but unfortunately , he wants me to respond to it by Feb 17. I have applied to some more higher rank universities and some same rank(Purdue, Washington,Austin, Tennessee ) and I do not know,when exactly they will announce their results, most probably final list will not be provided before that date! please note that university of Kansas is part of the CGS agreement (2014 not 2015 "is it the same"??!) , but no link to the agreement was mentioned in the offer?? So it is morally , and legally, Ok to 1-asks him to extend the deadline?? 2- reject the offer after accepting it???
