  1. I am! So far, I'm looking at Tufts, Pittsburgh, and University of Maryland College Park. I have an arts administration and production background (I'm graduating with an MS in Arts Administration in May). The overall goal is a PhD, so I'm hoping to get into a school with an MA/PhD program.
  2. Hello, everyone-- longtime lurker from back when I was applying to masters programs. I'm currently in Boston University's M.S. arts administration program, where I'm focusing on theater/performing arts management. It's been wonderful so far, but I'm finding that I really enjoy academia and would potentially like to teach/research after I complete this program. My background is in producing and directing at the collegiate and secondary ed levels, stage management at a regional theater, and theater management. While I feel I have a good knowledge bank in arts management and the business side of things, I'm very much missing the arts-based classes of my undergrad days (I was an English/Music major, and our theater classes were in those two departments). I'd love to research the way the commercial business side of theater affects the narrative. I've got plenty of time to put together letters of recommendation, essays, and other admissions requirements, I already took the GRE when prepping for masters applications, and I've got some time to do some research (I'd be applying this fall to potentially start in fall 2016). But I'm looking for some advice-- do you think I'd be right for any of the Theater/Performing Arts/Cultural Studies PhD programs you're familiar with, and if so, which? Should I reach out to individual departments to see if I'd be a good fit? Any advice is appreciated! Thanks.
