  1. Hi everyone! Was curious to see if anyone here will be attending BC in the fall? I can't wait to start and I will be moving from FL all alone (new state for the first time too). Just wanted to see and connect with others, see if we had classes together, etc
  2. Boston College was my first choice and I'll actually be attending. I picked the program due to being able to really specify your education (want to do school and trauma) and they had a school social work license option (my main goal). plus ive always wanted to live in a city/upnorth Both programs are top 10 I'm pretty sure but I've heard a lot of people on these forums say ranking doesnt matter that much in social work. But hey both are top 10's both schools are expensive that's for sure. The scholarship/cost will depend on what the actual difference in cost is between the schools. if Chicago offered you a higher scholarship but the difference in cost is A LOT compared to BC it wont matter but if the costs are similar it shouldnt matter as much.
  3. Im coming from FL. The original poster is coming from CA but I was the one with the bad experience. scholarships are definitely a main deciding factor which was one for me too. BC was just overall my 1st choice for what i needed
  4. I'm regular too I received an email recently in regards to classes but I sent my deposit in February. You can look at the bc msw newly admitted students page and a lot of the information youll need is on there (classes, registering, email, etc.) haha i understand finding a place without being there is the worst. you should look at the bc off campus housing website https://offcampushousing.bc.edu/ you log in with your credentials and you can make a profile saying your looking for roommates or you can look at properties listed by other students. most of the places are good areas and by the school but they are pricey. you have options for 4 roommates, 2, studio, etc. just depends on your price range. message me if you have further questions or just on anything else )
  5. awesome that's great are you coming in as a transfer or regular out of curiosity? might end up in the same classes!
  6. Nice scholarships are better than loans anytime lol. No im actually from FL. Ill be visiting the school in June though. My bf/his family are from Boston and ive visited which has helped somewhat. Theyve helped a lot in regards to an insider's perspective
  7. Hey I applied and was accepted to both. I ended up picking BC One of the main reasons is because I was offered a $25,000 scholarship to BC and BU only offered $20,000 in loans. Umm what else if you take out money...Ive heard BC is more clinical and BU is more macro (I'm doing clinical). I see BC as "better/more prestigious" than BU (that's just me). When I've called BC they were very friendly, got to talk to an actual student and ask her anything, always pick up, super structured/organized, etc. BU was the opposite: impossible to reach someone, kind of nasty at times, "not with it". I plan on doing school social work and BC gives you the opportunity to qualify to get your licensure. advising has "a plan" you have to follow during the 2 years so you can pass the test.
  8. I applied to BC AND Simmons around October-December. Heard back from both in February. I know someone who applied to BC as a transfer student and already found out her decision
  9. Oh gosh I would definitely call then if you live in the area! Yea USF was safety/last choice so I'll be attending BC since it was my first choice. Thanks though Youll have to let us know what is going on!
  10. I applied to Fall regular program. I applied in August and just heard back in late february/early march through email. Didnt actually get my official letter and packet until this weekend if thats any indication :/ I know for me at least all letters had to be out by April 1st. I live in Tampa so im sure thats why my letter came fast. maybe you should call though?
  11. both. I got an email letting me know ahead of time i was accepted and my letter was coming. the letter came exactly a week after the email
  12. I declined and am going to attend BC. Pretty sure other person is attending BU good luck!
  13. This week is spring break for them btw. Patience lol easier said than done I know but hopefully you hear soon. Good luck!
