  1. I expected UT-Austin and UC-Davis to have their decisions out already. Last year they announced acceptances and rejections by the end of January. Has anybody heard anything from either of these programs?
  2. Congrats to the NYU admit, big ups! Also, whoever commented on their Berkeley rejection "whatever that place is full of communists anyway," you made me chuckle.
  3. Ah the annual Berkeley massacre.
  4. Congrats L13
  5. I just followed TMP's advice and found the unroll.me process to be quick and painless. I hope it will save me some anxiety while I wait for acceptances/rejections. I just submitted my last application today. Now, I (and we) wait. Good luck everyone.
  6. Thanks! Did you use a basic form letter, or did you personalize each e-mail?
  7. Can I just say how much I love your Big Lebowski quote. You also applied last cycle, right?

I did.  Hopefully things will shake out a bit differently this cycle.  Are you back at it again as well?

I am. Last cycle my backup school accepted me, so I deferred to give one more go at this mess of a process. Good luck to you.

  8. What kind of stuff has everyone included in their letters to POI? I know the e-mail shouldn't be too long, but what should I really say?
  9. Hey! I just wanted to check in to see how everything was going so far? Did you end up at UC-Davis? I can't remember.

Great! I'm happy for you, I'm also considering UC-Davis as part of my expanded search. As you may remember, I was admitted into the program at Florida International University but I deferred to give this another go. I must be the worst kind of masochist. So now I'm applying to some of the same schools, and some new ones I didn't include last year. We'll see what happens.

Hey, let me know if I can help in any way. Davis' app isn't due til mid-January so you have plenty of time for that one at least. Who do you want to work with?

Hey, sorry it took me a while to get back to you. We recently came under contract to sell our home and are on a tight schedule to find an apartment. That in addition to having a one year old at home has taken most of my time. I hope to work with Andres Resendez, and am also interested in work done by Omina El Shakry, Rachel Jean-Baptiste, and Marian Schlotterbeck. Any insight?

  10. After an unsuccessful 2015 season (one acceptance without funding and a waitlisting that was ultimately not picked up out of eight applications) I'm back for the 2016 season. Good luck to everyone.

Welp, UNC officially rejected me this afternoon. Here's holding out hope for UVA to pick me up.

So, have you come to a decision Chiqui? I think you've alluded to what you'll do, but are you holding out for Meeeeeechigan?

I too expect UNC's rejection to come no earlier than late March, while I still hang on to the hope of a late season acceptance. What presently causes me serious anxiety is waiting on UVA to let me know if they'll pick me up off the waitlist or not. UVA would be a dream come true.
