  1. Hello everyone! I noticed a rejection from UIUC in Education PhD on the Results Page... I didn't hear back yet. Anyone else applied to University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign? I applied to their Social & Cultural Foundations PhD program.
  2. I don't know if the interviews were only HDTL or for everybody. I'm CIS and haven't heard back. I feel like it's more likely all the interviews were sent out, for all the programs, but again I don't really know. I was planning on calling but I guess they're closed because of the storm!
  3. Hey! thanks for starting the thread. I haven't received an interview but I've applied to TC in History of Education (PhD). No idea when to expect any news. Also, the upcoming storm is probably going to slow down the admission process at a lot of schools this week. Anyway, congrats on your interview invitation!!
  4. Congrats! I'm still hoping people who heard back were all HDLT; I applied for CIS and haven't heard back. After Monday I'll consider myself rejected.
  5. Looks like people are getting interviews for PhDs!!! (see results page) Congrats to anyone who heard back!
  6. I see... I thought I saw a post from last year saying "admission without interview" but I guess it was from something else :/ fingers crossed then!!
  7. Nope, still nothing on my end. Last year's first result post was on Jan 23rd but we'll probably hear back next week. The problem is that if you don't get an interview, it can either mean you're accepted straight away or you're rejected... So I guess it would just mean more waiting!
  8. Always amazes me how many different research topics emerge in the same field! I'm actually in the process of writing my Master's thesis on high school extracurricular activities in the 70s in a small city in North Carolina, and I'm definitely trying to keep the same research topic and expand it for a dissertation! Good luck to you -- I'll let you know if I hear back!
  9. Hey! I'm also applying to History of Education programs I have way less experience than you have and I'm international (from France). I have never studied Education directly, which is why I'm applying to graduate school. My background is English & American History. Like you, I'm not sure if it's a good or a bad thing. I also applied to Stanford and NYU -- but will probably withdraw my app from NYU because I applied to Master's and there's no way I'll be able to afford it. So fingers crossed for a PhD at Stanford, Columbia & IU-UC in my case! You seem like you're a great fit for that kind of program though!
  10. Hi everyone! I'm new on this forum. I'm from France and this is my first time applying to an American institution. I have no idea if I'm a good applicant or not, since the French system is so different from the American one. Hopefully admission committees have good tools to evaluate international students! As for fit, Harvard is definitely not the closest to my research interests, but I'm applying to other schools, mainly in History of Education. It doesn't seem to be the most popular programs (I see a lot of Education Policy) -- is anyone else applying to the "Cultural / Historical Foundations of Education" type of program? Anyway here is my little summary : GRE Score : V 166 (96%) Q 156 (64%) AWA 4.0 (56%) TOEFL: 115 GPA UnderGrad: N/A [French system : prépa, ENS] Work and Research Experience: I conduct research at my school (ENS) which belongs to the French government so it's a full time job even though I'm a student. I'm writing a Master's thesis on school desegregation in North Carolina for my French Master's in American History. I taught French at Duke University for a year, and have some volunteering experience. Nothing too significant apart from that, unfortunately. Undergrad Institution: International Private Program: Culture, Institutions, Society PhD Other schools I'm applying to: - PhDs: Teachers College, UIUC, Stanford - Master's : NYU, UPenn, UCLA, Berkeley Good luck everyone !!! Hopefully we hear back soon! (I check the Results page all the time but it's always Neuroscience)
