  1. I noticed that a good deal of the interviews reported were extended to applicants who were in some way international! So that's a little piece of hope that you can cling to. All of the programs I applied to I love in one way or another, so I'm just hoping that I get accepted to at least one of them! I think I'm emotionally ready for grad school, and emotionally over-ready to hear back from at least one place
  2. What! Where have I been! Jeez! Maybe it was just me hoping
  3. Oh wow! I thought the general belief was that classics apps were down this year?
  4. Everyone here makes me feel like I finally have a community of people who share my anxiety about applying to grad school! I still have yet to hear anything back from anyone, some of my schools shouldn't even release anything until March though but the rest of my friends in unrelated fields have already started hearing back and I'm getting sick of the kicked puppy look they keep giving me. Blah
  5. I think shortlisted means slated for admissions without guarantee. Just from my experience!
  6. Eep! Sorry I missed this Beatrice. my mom has been taking care of the kitties as my apartment is not pet-friendly, and now they are basically her children so she will keep them once I've moved. They are spoiled and getting fat because she loves them a little too much.
  7. I saw a few Stanford acceptances on the results search this morning! Congrats to all of you!
  8. I have two cats, one is Tasha and she was a street kitty and she's really old, and the other one is Oliver and he was an orphan. kitties!!!
  9. Kitty!!! What is your cat's name?
  10. It doesn't help that my mother keeps calling and texting me asking if I've heard anything back. I know she's trying to be helpful, but it just makes me cringe and makes my heart drop every time she asks. I'll be the first person doing grad work in the entire family if I get in somewhere, so she's understandably excited. Blah.
  11. Ann Arbor has a snow day today, just so you know
  12. I keep nervously checking this forum and my email every so often. Luckily I'm at work so I've got lots of things to distract me, but my heart starts racing every time I get an email! Hopefully this is the week!
  13. Do not contact them! Wait it out. I know it's so hard, but let your application stand as it is. I highly doubt even if you did contact them, that they would do anything other than send you a form email. Just reconcile yourself to waiting, that's all I feel you can do right now.
  14. I apologize if this is somewhere easy to find, but was it one of you all who was accepted to PAMW @Chicago? I was just wondering if they were in the habit of changing the status of applications on ApplyWeb.
  15. I used to live in Sweden, actually! What a small world! What are you interested in, with Etruscan archaeology?
  16. I know it's the weekend, and we should be relaxing, but here's my over analysis of the week: the person who reported an interview with brown also reported being an international student. I'm not sure if that changes anything, I have seen some posts about internationals having interviews instead of / before being invited to a prospective weekend, but not necessarily for this discipline. Beatrice, do you have any experience with this? Any differences in treatment / procedure as an international student? (If I remember correctly you are!)
  17. I agree with you! The concept of having to explain my interests is terrifying though that's silly in and of itself. I'm interested in the development of ethnicity, nationality, and culture in the Aegean! I'm currently focused on the western coast of Anatolia but it's fairly new for me so I'm applying it to different fields as well. I also study Scandinavian studies and had the privilege of being on a Viking excavation last summer so I studied the beginning of trade and manufacturing there. It was amazing! I'm also interested in migration and how it shows up in the archaeological record. I've studied migration a lot in a modern context so I'm currently trying to apply it to the Aegean. Also digital humanities. Also a lot of things and this text box is small. I fear (however completely unlikely) someone telling me that what I'm interested in is just alright. Or not interesting enough. I think being a first generation college student does that to you!
  18. I've been stalking the anthropology boards for fun, to get my mind off my empty email inbox. My thesis advisor told me that I'm basically a wild card anywhere simply because I don't have a Master's yet, so I've already mentally prepared myself to not be accepted at my big-name schools. Is there anyone else on here who is pursuing Classical Archaeology? I'm on mobile so I can't see the signatures / descriptions. Just to distract myself, what time period interests you the most?
  19. Oh my goodness Beatrice you are a genius! Perhaps we could team up, me with my grapes and cheese-grater hand. We would be unstoppable.
  20. Hi ruchudoo! Welcome to the boards! Okay, time for next question: if you had to replace one of your hands with an object, what would it be and why? For me it would definitely be a cheese-grater. It's useful and also can be used in dangerous situations.
  21. I haven't heard anything from anyone in my department! I also applied there so if/ when I do hear anything back (God willing!) I'll be sure to post it ASAP!
  22. It's in the anthro board somewhere. I bounce between anthro, history, and classics just because I applied to archaeology programs and I want to see if I can find anyone who has reported results! Speaking of 20 questions / diffusing stress, here's a silly question: if you had to eat one food for the rest of your life, what would it be? For me it would definitely be grapes. They're great alone, but also frozen, and also made into wine.
  23. I feel like we should all play like 20 questions to get our minds off of this and feel more positive when we check these boards! Any ideas?
  24. It's the history main thread, I believe, which has statistics and graphs posted. I found it on accident today, if you're still interested!
  25. I've seen some late acceptances reported for a number of schools (late March even) so I am just going to try and distract myself for the next 6 weeks and hope something comes to fruition! Also hello kedua11, welcome to the board!
