  1. There's only two posted and judging by the last couple of years I think we've got a little while left to wait! Time will tell.
  2. Basically I am just frustrated with waiting. I'm not a naturally impatient person, but I hate not being able to make real plans for the year because I don't know where I'll be! Blah.
  3. When I looked at last year I saw that they generally sent out acceptances in February and rejections in March, all via email. One can hope that perhaps things are still being sent out.
  4. I see a Chicago and UCB posting on the results board! I was hoping for Chicago myself. Ah well!
  5. Re: IPCAA, my thesis advisor is on the admissions board and he told me today that they're meeting at the end of this week. Hope that helps!
  6. I wonder if Brown's anthropology department is at all linked to Classics? Someone reported that Brown has made its decisions but they won't go out until next week due to the impending blizzard. In any case, it's interesting to think about.
  7. I believe someone did graphs on one of the boards to analyze what day of the week most people heard back on, when in the month, etc. I'm on mobile, but I do know that the likelihood to hear back from a school increases as the week goes on, culminates in Friday, and decreases on weekends.
  8. I believe the Penn interview was only for Ancient History PhD, which we have established is separate from the AAMW program. Don't give up too early! It's only January
  9. From what I've heard you can't get penalized too much for your letter writers not having their shit together. This happened to me over Christmas break, and thankfully I knew the adcomm for the school wouldn't meet until January. Still, you should get in touch with your letter writer!
  10. Omg Beatrice that's great!!! Don't freak out about the interview, be yourself and have questions to ask at the end. Also don't go on the boards too much and get freaked out about what you should or shouldn't say. You will do wonderfully and you will charm their socks off!!! Let us know how it goes!
  11. Mine is a tree I like (cause it's white and cool looking). Not very interesting but I like the way it sounds all together.
  12. Dreamt I showed up to the interview drunk and without a shoe. Have not been invited to any interviews. Why is this happening to me???
  13. Yup I just saw a UCLA Classics post. Beatrice I love that I'm not alone in looking up specific dates! I'm trying to distract myself by adding to my thesis but it's not entirely working. :C
  14. I do know someone else (who doesn't post on here) who also rec'd a message from Toronto today. So I am not sure if they're done sending everything out!
  15. You're right, it is still too early! But I so dearly wish it wasn't. Congratulations to your fiancée! That's wonderful! I've heard the Princeton Pure Mathematics PhD is especially competitive this year.
  16. Has anyone heard back yet from anywhere? How is everyone holding up?
  17. Thanks redleaves!
  18. Oh goodness I freaked out for a second. I applied to the Joukowsky Institute at Brown and the deadline for it has always been January 4th. Perhaps simultaneous adcomm meetings?
  19. I googled for the UPenn ancient history department and while it seems the two departments (that and AAMW) work together, they aren't quite the same thing. At least that's what I'm getting out of it. Can anyone weigh in on the subject?
  20. Someone has self-reported results from UPenn's Ancient History (skype interview) which is a separate group from AAMW. Ugh my heart jumped.
  21. Sorry I didn't answer you right away Beatrice, still working out notifications on the mobile site. I didn't apply to Columbia as I'm mostly a Classical Archaeology major, and leaning more towards the digital humanities side. NonSumNonCuro - I currently attend Michigan, best of luck to you! You'll have to update here if you're accepted, would love to help you out with any practical side of things if need be. I applied to UPenn (as it says in my signature) as a far, far reach. Luckily my current advisor taught there, so I'm hoping he put in a good word for me, but who knows! Also, I did some analytics on results just for the schools I applied to, to see if there was a pattern in the responses based off of the Results Search. I just wanted to know by what date I should give up hope Here's what I got: Cornell: Short list email gets sent out at the end of January. U Chicago: Sends out acceptances in February, rejections in March (generally, not a steadfast rule) UPenn: No clue! Someone should call. Brown: The majority of their acceptances follow after an invite to an interview, sent out end of January / early February. Boston: No idea. Tufts: Hear back everything early March with seemingly no pattern. Hope that helps somehow! Every email I get makes me jumpy. :C
  22. I just really want to add something - I was worried about a similar topic for a diversity essay, and I decided against it. Yes, it's a big part of who I am, but as I was not active in any related communities and it does not show through in my work, I was strongly advised against including that as my diversity essay. This is due expressly to the fact that if I didn't contribute to the diversity of my undergraduate school already in regards to this characteristic of mine, then how could I demonstrate that I would contribute to the diversity of a future university? That being said, it's totally up to you! There's really no risk in including it I suppose.
  23. Additionally, have you checked if your department has any funds? That's the only way I was able to attend the field schools that I did. There's also a possibility if you message the dig director, depending on what type of dig it is, that they may have a space for you as an assistant (seeing as how you're an MA and not undergrad, which the majority of dig participants [in my experience] are) and can waive some or all fees for the program. Definitely worth a shot!
  24. For the past two days near the end of a typical workday, I've gotten calls from unknown numbers. Both times my heart starts racing. Both times it was telemarketers. urghhghhxhzhch
  25. I am! Still waiting to hear anything back.
