  1. I have also been told that the pool of applicants was really large this year!
  2. Fat cats <3 <3 <3 Understood. I love this forum!
  3. Oh my, the page of Classics results is moving fast. "Shortlisted" = "Waitlisted"? Or "Shortlisted" = "Not rejected yet, pal"?
  4. I re-post the question and open it to everyone: will any of you travel with your pet to the new university? Yes or no? Why?
  5. Cats and Greeks. That's all I have in this life. Oh, and my fianceƩ! But my cat comes first, obviously. Are you taking any of your kitties with you, birchleaf? You definitely need a cat! Soft, elegant, loyal friends.
  6. If you were waiting for a "Herodotus the cat", I've let you down. I love stars............................................... and maybe I was influenced by Men in Black.
  7. Orion. He's afraid of bags, papers, sneezes, fireworks, vets, washing-machines, kids, static objects and mobile objects.
  8. Bored indeed, I am skimming the housing systems of some universities. I have a beautiful cat that I will take with me wherever I go, so I am worried about pet-friendly housing. Searching for pet-friendly places, I found that some owners ask a "pet interview" before renting the apartment. Others, in addition to the "pet interview", ask for a "written reference from past landlord" for the pet. INTERVIEW + LETTER OF RECOMMENDATION FOR MY CAT!!!
  9. 1) My profile. 2) Edit my profile. 3) Signature. 4) DONE And add some colors!
  10. I feel you. A bunch of doing-silly-things-around-the-cell-phone days. I made a beautiful puzzle of 250 pieces!
  11. Well, if you need something just send me a PM! I can look things up for you!
  12. Great. I am learning so much with this forum...
  13. Oh! I was waiting for a lost papyri reference! Jajaja! Oh, wait. I have a stupid question. Do you laugh like "hahahaha" in USA, don't you?
  14. (1) Welcome to you, and (2) thanks for the data. I love Classical Studies' faculty and highly interdisciplinary degree: it's my third beloved place after Princeton and Stanford.
  15. Totally. Internationals (IN) are usually treated differently. In some universities, they always make extensive interviews with IN (even before the second row of selections) in order to know the depth of the skills or to understand better the background that each has. Another example I have from mathematics is that UCLA accepts first the Americans and then the IN: since they know quite well how to rank American universities, they take less time doing the selection and reading the profiles.
  16. Oh, I think nobody sells himself as a philosopher... I always say that I have a "licenciatura" (a five year degree) in Philosophy. And no, I only have read some few things of Prof. Gill. Book chapters mostly. What about you, Marcus?
  17. Well, I am a Platonist. I love everything signed by Plato: the letters, the dialogues, the agrapha dogmata (!). However, my undergraduate thesis is focused on Republic, and specially on the causal relationship between poetic performance, psychological pathos and behavior. Having this relationship in mind, I blend the classical approach with a more philosophical one, integrating new elements taken from theory of emotions with heavy work on Plato's use of verbs, adjectives and participles. Until two weeks ago, I always felt that I was a crazy latina with a taste for weird blends. Now I know I'm not alone.
  18. [Ok, now I have updated my signature. So happy..... BUT still waiting what will happen with my fianceƩ (waitlisted at Stanford).]
  19. Hahaha, of course. But I like to keep that option in mind, 'cause hoping is free
  20. The one who posted about Brown was interviewed, which is different from accepted (ex. me and Stanford). Yet, when candidates are interviewed is because the committee has already made the decisions (interviewed candidates become accepted or waitlisted, but rarely rejected). Or maybe you are a TERRIFIC candidate and nobody needs to make you an interview. Sounds rare, though.
  21. Yes, you're right. Three in a row. I insist on the Bingo thing: application is quite like betting.
  22. Must consider Yale and Chicago as lost? Buuuuuu! Well, let's wait for Classical Studies at Columbia <3 <3 <3 You know, this process would be a lot better if we had some kind of Bingo cards.
