  1. Does anyone who interviewed with Univ. Of Washington know when they will make decisions?
  2. @komina12345 also given that Emory, UW ect. have begun to send out rejections but you have not gotten one may be a sign that you are still under consideration, but not yet an 'admit'
  3. I am thus far the only person I know of who got into UCI. I had personal experience with the department before I applied. I would not assume rejection at this point at all.
  4. Is anyone else expecting the next two and a half weeks to be crazy? I am expecting to hear from seven of the eight program in which I have outstanding decisions in that time frame (including a Princeton reject)
  5. WashU will likely be announcing decisions soon. Their website says they plan to notify us by the first week in Feb and they've stuck pretty close to that historically. It would be a surprise if we did not know by next Friday. I'm eager to hear because this is one of my top three choices, if not my #1. Also, I'm probably not going to go there, but I find it really surprising that we haven't heard anything from CU Boulder. Historically they almost always have their first decisions out by the end of January. Maybe they changed their process?
  6. I'm in AP. Racial politics and public law are my main interests
  7. Well, after seemingly being the first person accepted to two midteir programs (Mizzou and UCI), the first person interviewed at another good one (Notre Dame) and quite possibly the first person accepted to a PhD program in Political Science in the entire country (Jan. 12), I was dreaming that I could run the table. At this hour, it does not seem that will be the case. Nonetheless, I feel like Princeton was the worst fit for me and my interests of the three top programs I applied to (WashU and Michigan being the other two). Of course I wish I had gotten in, but I'm still hopeful about the rest of this cycle. Congrats to all those who got accepted!
  8. I'll admit it doesn't look good, but assuming rejection might be a tad early. There is still the wait list.
  9. @Wongs let me know how it goes. I also applied there and have a good friend who goes there.
  10. Anyone claiming the USC interview?
  11. Are you planning on using the degree for practical or academic purposes?
  12. Yeah, I have probably about 30 to 40 schools. I don't want to post them all right now, but if you want to know a specific school I might be able to tell you.
  13. I'm in the current one. Applied to my MA in 2015.
  14. Because I don't think that there are enough easily accessible resources to us aspiring Poli Sci PhDs, when this whole process is done, I want to post a PS PhD starters pack of sorts with links to useful resources that are already out there (such as NRC, US News and Oprisko et al rankings, the PhD stipends website ect.), as well as a significant amount of data I collected such as the required/recommended/average GRE and GPA for every school I could find it for, the maximum amount of MA credits the 40-some programs I looked into and anything else I may have lying around. I also want to include my methodology and perhaps other folks' on how to determine research fit and how to estimate placement rates. If there is any additional info that you wish you had easy access to before applying or anything you think could help those who come after us in general please shoot me a PM.
  15. I don't think they're interviewing all of them. I think they just wanted to know more about my research interests and how I would fit in the department. Professors on this forum have said not to put too much stock into interviews. So you most likely still have a shot. Best of luck!
  16. Notre Dame decisions should be out in two weeks, according to my interviewer. I know that it seems to be a popular program on here so I just wanted to share.
  17. I actually think there might be a technical issue with the admissions page. I've tried to post my UC Irvine admit on both my phone and laptop and the image thingy doesn't show up. Still seems like a quiet Monday though. I have an interview later today, but not a whole lot else. Slow news day.
  18. So UCI was something of a unique situation for me since my MA program has a close relationship with them (EG they hire their PhDs and more than a few past MAs have gotten their PhD from there). So I had participated in two conferences put on by the department, where I got to know a couple of profs and grad students. I emailed a couple of people who had been discussants on my papers to give them a heads up that I was applying, one was a POI that I named in my SOP. This was not the POI who contacted me though. At no other program did I email POIs, though I did contact the DGS in a couple of programs that sent me recruitment emails (Missouri and Brandeis) and I had a conversation with the grad advisor (an administrator not a prof) at Washington when I was in Seattle for a conference this past spring. So this was the only program where I had direct contacted a POI directly, but they knew me before hand. Sorry for the long answer
  19. University of California- Irvine. I receive an email from a POI who said that I have been recommended for admission by the Ad Comm and that he wants to talk to me in the next couple days.
  20. Speak of the devil, I was just admitted to UCI 2a/0r/0w/8p one if which is a pending interview A weirdly busy Sunday for me
  21. Okay so next week here is what to expect: in the likely for SOME decisions to come come next week column I have: Texas Northwestern Colorado Washington Arizona State UCI UCSD Pitt The Bulk of Stony Brook And possibly more from Rice, Ohio State and Penn State, Arizona In the wouldn't be surprising, but not exceedingly likely column: WashU Princeton Michigan Harvard UChicago Notre Dame Again, this could be a HUGE week
  22. @deutsch1997bw it was not specified in the email. It was an informal email from a POI. @csantamir I am in American Politics. One other thing of note is that the email said that 'as part of [the] admissions process [they] like to reach out to students to answer any questions [the students] may have.' But it doesn't say anything about them asking me questions. I can't help but feel that this is a good sign.
  23. As for schools not sending anything out over the weekend, it's not a decision, but I just woke up to an interview request at Notre Dame.
  24. I thought Arizona started sending some out already? No?
