  1. If you know what schools you will be applying to, definitely double check their list of pre-reqs to make sure you have all of them. Other than that, if you haven't already taken it, I'd totally recommend an intro to social/cultural anthropology class - it's a lot more applicable than you may think!
  2. Congrats, Shayy_Dee It's a great feeling!
  3. Wooo!!!! That must be such a relief, speechie92!
  4. Thanks and no problem! My portal has not updated. I received the email at 2:45 PM today and they released no information about the wait list. They only mentioned having 392 applicants this year. Sorry I don't have any more info!
  5. Mine says: Application Status: Submitted Submitted Date: 12/22/2014 5:02:00 PM EST Your application was completed on 12/29/2014 11:11:00 AM
  6. That was me! I was just wait listed. Got an email with the subject title "wait list" At least they got right to the point. Apparently there were 392 applicants this year. They also have a policy where they don't inform you of your ranking on the wait list and ask that you don't email or call inquiring about it.
  7. @Ktoney - this may be a little off topic, but since you are already in the area, what's it like? How do you like it?
  8. I'm not a VA resident, so I'm thinking both of these emails were just generic and have no meaning behind them. While oddly timed, I think it shows that they want to stay in communication with us as we go through the process, which it is nice to hear something, you know?
  9. Oh no! Sorry to hear that ChatterBrain. I think the deadline passed, but I'm sure there's no harm to call and ask!
  10. @Koukla19 No I wasn't - I got it this afternoon. It was saying basically that a) there is no extra application to receive a scholarship or funding, you are automatically considered if you applied to Radford b ) it will say if you get an assistantship/scholarship in the decision letter and c) that they look forward to reviewing my application
  11. Just got an email about funding opportunities today and how it works - anyone else?
  12. If someone accepts a school (pays deposit etc), should he or she automatically withdraw the other applications? Also, MonicaSLP - Congrats!! It must be a great feeling knowing where you're headed I definitely agree with the above poster to see if they have an online handbook you can browse while you wait. It could be that the department isn't moving forward yet, considering most schools have til April 15th for accepted students to respond to offers, then they have to go through the wait list process, etc. Maybe try connecting with a current graduate student to get some info as well. They could be a valuable resource too!
  13. I submitted my CSDCAS portion on December 15th and the supplemental app on December 23rd. I received an email that my supplemental application and fee were received on January 15th and another email stating that my application was under review on February 2nd. Hope this helps!
  14. Wow, that's an insane number! When I look on ASHA edfind, it looks like they received around 320 in the past. Ohmeohmy2002 - did you hear this from admissions?
  15. I got the invite too! Seems like odd timing, but I think everyone was sent it.
  16. Noooo I'm sorry to hear but remember - it only takes one!
  17. Mine still only says complete and awaiting a decision :\
  18. I agree with double checking in the housing forum, although I know a few people that went there for undergrad, and while it is true that the area is not the best, everyone who I've talked to feels that there are places (on campus and off) where you'll never have a problem, but others places where it's definitely shady. However, my friend has even mentioned that she feels safe and very seldom doesn't. Seems like once you get to know the area along with the safety precautions set in place by the school (police, emergency police boxes etc), it shouldn't be a big issue.
  19. @Sophia Thanks Crossing my fingers for good news for you! @Arytenoid First off, awesome username and congrats! I'm almost positive that Temple does not offer funding, but that is not something I heard directly from the current admissions and would need to be confirmed. My impression of the program is that they are good and they know they are good (very Philadelphia-like) which is not necessarily a bad thing but it can be construed negatively. I also know someone who came through the program, loved it, and they are doing amazing things. Definitely thinking a visit is very important before making a decision, since where you fit and mesh well personality wise is an important aspect as well.
  20. Hi, Sophia! I think the only way you would know is if you called admissions or someone else already called to ask. Anyone already do that? Best of luck to you!! I got an email today with my acceptance, but it seems like the TU Portal still hasn't updated for me. I wasn't expecting an answer either since the grad cafe results showed last year being late feb. I applied early January though, so I don't know if that makes a difference. Temple is pretty high up on my list since it is in state for me, but I definitely want to go visit. Anyone know if they are hosting an open house before I go ahead and contact them?
  21. I second what neucool says. Many schools post their stats about employment rates on their websites, and they are usually at 100% no matter the school.
  22. I second MadGab14's advice. Definitely get in contact with your schools to discuss the situation. I hope it works out!
  23. I wouldn't think they would penalize you too much, if at all! I'm sure a graduate comittee understands that the recommender is responsible for the typo in the LOR, not you. Additionally, this type of error shows that the recommender probably had a lot of LORs to write and does not affect your portrayal of having the ability to be an awesome clinician. I'd be more worried if I discovered a typo like that in my SOP
  24. Anytime! Yeah, it's a really great tool. I also use it to see the general timeline of acceptances for schools. Just don't get too attached, or you'll probably get a fair amount of anxiety from it Sounds like you are way ahead of the game which is awesome!
  25. Hi! Have you checked out the results page yet? Here's a link to the results search for "speech* vanderbilt": http://thegradcafe.com/survey/index.php?q=speech*+vanderbilt You can hover over the red diamonds to see people's stats. If you already knew this, sorry! If you didn't, hope it helps!
