I also did not hear back from masters programs until March. The Ph.D. applicants should be the anxious ones at this point... I applied to four Ph.D. programs and have not heard anything. I am now anxiously awaiting some sort of waitlist notification However, I simply cannot lose hope until I receive the official rejection.

....Haven't heard a peep, nor have I seen anything from my top choice in the results search (except for a post from 3 years ago). Maybe people in my field tend not to use grad cafe?? So this must mean I probably won't hear back until May, when they send all the rejections they forgot about. Right?? My "no news is good news" motto is becoming harder to believe in every day....!

I'm also not sure if I should do this or not, although it seems like the general consensus is to avoid contacting the POI directly at this point. My advisor also suggested I definitely not contact POIs at this time. Has anyone had past experience with this? Has anyone (who did not contact POIs) later receive some good news? Or is it so late in the cycle at this point that it wouldn't matter that we reached out? Also (kind of) off topic, but is it still possible to be waitlisted if we did not receive an invite to interview? Could the POI simply think they already know us well enough from our previous communications that we didn't need a formal interview? Thanks for the advice, sort of desperate at this point.

That's great, I haven't heard that one before! I have been dealing with the waiting anxiety by trying to keep busy with my work...which probably means I need to leave this site...it's just so tough to keep myself from checking the results constantly.

I feel the same, and although I applied very narrowly, I thought I would have heard something by now. Seeing the results can be a real "ouch" moment. I keep seeing people say that interviews are often sent out in waves, but I think my prospects aren't looking good. I applied to schools based on research fit (not rankings), so I thought along with my strong application I would have a shot. Not being invited to interview sure feels horrible, and makes me wonder if there was some massive mistake with my application. I would like to let it go and move on, but the uncertainty continues to give me hope. This purgatory is really difficult to live in.

I am in the same boat and I agree with ssynny. I am going to wait until later in the month to start reaching out because I don't want to (potentially) aggravate anyone. If anyone thinks otherwise, please share- I'm interested to read other thoughts on this. Best of luck.

I know this is sort of an old thread, but I wanted to add to the discussion. I am also applying with a low quant gre score, but hope that the rest of my application will off-set that. I have a glowing application, except for my low quant score. I used to think if that is literally the only reason I am not admitted to a program, that is probably not a program I would like to be in. With that being said, I have not heard from any of the programs I applied to, so it isn't looking good. I'm worried that my low quant score might seem like a slap in the face to the programs I applied to, especially since my scores are a few years old. I didn't re-take it because studying for it would have taken time away from my research and teaching, although now I am really regretting that decision. If I receive feedback after rejections about my low quant score being the deciding factor, then I will be forced to take the stupid test again. P.S. I really enjoyed that nature article, and I hope more adcoms take note!

Ok, thanks for the reply! I haven't heard anything about interview dates, but my POI is only in cog sci (within the psych dept. ) not the neuroscience dept. That date would be cutting it a bit close. I will try to update if I hear anything. Best of luck!

I haven't heard ANYTHING and living with the uncertainty is really tough. At this point, I just want to hear one way or the other so I can start planning. I guess the only thing to do is to *try not to think about it*... Yeah, right.....
