  1. Oh goodness! Fingers crossed the interview goes well! Yeah I'm just waiting to hear for funding--seems like a tale as old as time by now haha
  2. Thanks everyone for the kind words! I guess my Spring Break is going to be very interesting!
  3. Yup! I got an email saying that they pushed the wrong button and I've actually been accepted into the program. I've heard about this happening but always thought it was something that only happens in tv shows or movies.
  4. My mind is about to EXPLODE. I just got an email saying that I was accidentally rejected for the museum studies for GWU when I've actually been accepted!! I have to lie down or throw up now......
  5. Just got my official rejection letter from University of South Carolina. Which stings a little, but I think it was the most competitive of programs I applied to. But at least it wasn't my # 1 choice!
  6. @jdlsutton-I know! The only thing I can think of is that it's tied to our concentration. I think that person who already knows their funding is archives or library studies, so maybe we'll hear soon? @Heimat Historian-Yes I did! But I was the museum studies applicant so I think that's different departments technically.
  7. That's awesome Heimat Historian! So happy for you!
  8. Nope haven't heard anything yet. It is driving me crazy!
  9. Any new updates in the public history field?
  10. Thanks everyone! If it's true I'll be very surprised since they only accept a few students each year. I'll keep everyone posted once I know for sure! I'm kinda in shock tbh
  11. Good evening everyone! Been sick this weekend so haven't really been on the boards or checking grad schools. Tonight while checking my application status for University of South Carolina I saw something new: Application Status: Program Admission Recommendation Submitted to Graduate School Admission Decision: Decision Pending Does this mean I'll hopefully be finding out this week if I've been accepted or not? The wording is odd, so I wanted to see what y'all thought.
  12. Congrats to all the new admits!! So I have a random question that I would love everyone's advice! Do you recommend for someone in an MA program to have a roommate their first year? I know having a roommate would help with rent and socializing, but does it impact that first year at all?
  13. That's awesome!! Congrats
  14. I agree with emmd94. It's about career goals. I know someone who got their MA in public history but is getting a PhD in history. I want a PhD, but unless I get amazing funding I doubt it'll be right after my MA. And thanks, emmd94! I actually felt relieved to not be accepted so my decision is that much easier!
  15. I agree I'm very interested to see what their views are on "to PhD or not to PhD". From what I've seen a MA is incredibly helpful to have jobs that aren't completely entry level and are at times required for jobs. Also, depending on colleges you can teach with just a MA, which I know you don't want but it is a fall back. A PhD is more desirable if you want to be the one running the museum, archive, or sector of NPS. However, they will at times allow experince to make up for a lack of a PhD. The biggest draw is that with a PhD you can teach upper level history courses at colleges and be called Dr. This is just my observation from talking with my advisor, coworkers, and perusing job openings.
  16. Yeah that was difficult! Did you apply for history or like museum studies?
  17. I hope you hear good news!! For GWU it was my first grad school application, which means I hadn't truly perfected my sop by that point. I'm not surprised lol Fingers crossed everyone hears good news today
  18. That's awesome telkanuru!!
  19. Just got my first rejection from George Washington University!
  20. Oh congrats into getting into both! From what I've seen Raleigh looks like the place to be for those in Public History. So you already know your funding for NCSU? If so I'm super jealous--I've been hoping to find out soon. I don't know if I will be, I am planning to go up during my Spring Break to get a feel for the town and the university. But I might since it would be a good time for networking with (potentially) my new classmates!
  21. It's those few acceptances on the results page that get to me! I'm waiting to hear back about University of South Carolina, but I saw 3 people have already been accepted. Which makes me assume I haven't been accepted there....I wish everyone was told at the same time, so we can satrt planning the next steps.
  22. That's awesome! Congrats!!
  23. No matter it will work out in the end! Thankfully you're in a great area that appears to have a lot of opportunities in the field. I want to wish you the best of luck!!!!!
  24. Oh I'm so sorry!
  25. I hope so too! I sent in all my transcripts too just in case they needed it. So now I'm obsessively refreshing my email for a whole new reason. Oh very nice! Maybe we'll have classes together if we both attend
