Since we all have different concentrations, I'm gonna bet that's why you haven't heard. But how cool would it be if we all went there for our MA?! We would already somewhat know people making it seem less foreboding.
-
Hi there ncmissy! Maybe they're sending out the decisions in wavesa depending upon the concentration. Don't lose hope Have you applied anywhere else?

That's all that matters!!

Well hello there my fellow public historian! I'm finishing up my undergrad this semester and just waiting to hear back from all the schools I applied to. Which feels like forever!!
-
I was at work when I found out so between screams of excitement with my boss there were tears. Then I called my mom while my coworkers quickly grabbed wine to celebrate. It didn't fully sink in until the next day.

I would love to hear from South Carolina University or George Washington University! They're in my top three.
-
Same here, Chiqui! Also I have my work email on my phone which constantly means I go from excited and to disappointed when I realize it's not from a school.
-
Congrats about the admit! Fingers crossed funding works out for you.

Congrats to the UC Santa Barbara admit!
-
Congrats!!! That's awesome

It just seems so quiet response wise. I was expecting that at this point there would be a steady stream of news. I'm hoping for everyone that next week will be full of exciting news of acceptences.
-
Oh that's awesome! Are you gonna go visit to see if you click with the professor? I can't believe we might hear back so soon...Now I'll be obsessively checking my email once again. I hope for both of us that we are presented with good offers. NCSU is one of my top choices, so I'm holding out hope for funding. Let me know when you find out!

That's the problem the "to read" list is massive! But I really like it. And even though it does deal with Vlad the Impaler/Dracula it isn't gory at all!!
-
My current novel that isn't required reading is "The Historian" by Elizabeth Kostova. This historical fiction is a mixture of suspense, romance, and of course history. The plot focuses on Vlad the Impaler with additional focus on the Ottoman Empire and various monasteries. I have it as an audiobook which helps with pronunciation of various terms and names. Plus you can hear the specific accent for the various characters as well. It makes me want to learn more about not only Vlad, but the rise of the Ottoman Empire!

Very nice! I actually had a textbook last semester for my Ancient Rome course that was written by a professor at NCSU. So no foreign language exam for you either? Oh fingers crossed for the both of us! It would be cool if we both went there then we'll know at least one person
-
Oh congratulations!!!! What's your focus? Not yet! But once they get my official tranacripts processed I'm hoping to hear then.
-
Thanks ellebe and elinen!! I think it's time for that celebratory drink!

I've been accepted into the North Carolina State University Public History MA program!! It is dependent on my submitting my official transcripts. I was not expecting to hear back so soon!!
