  1. I got full tuition & healthcare plus a small living stipend.
  2. Does WWS reimburse for airfare and/or hotel accommodations if we attend the Hosting Program? I don't mean to sound greedy, but some other programs I was admitted to reimburse for the visit weekend, so I am just curious. Thank in advance!
  3. Hi all, I am thrilled to have been admitted to both the Pardee RAND graduate school (PhD program) and the MPA program at Princeton's Woodrow Wilson School. I currently live in LA and it would be very difficult for me and my family to move to New Jersey. On top of that, I would like to work at a think tank or governmental organization (potentially in the areas of development and/or international relations), so RAND's program seems like a really good fit. Although the choice seems obvious at this point, I was wondering if anyone has any insight into PRGS. Do you know anyone who attend/attended PRGS? Are they happy with their decision? If anyone has any thoughts on PRGS v. WWS or either of these schools generally, please feel free to share those as well. Thanks in advance.
  4. My last name starts with a "B" and I think I was the first person on here to get the admissions e-mail, so your theory may be correct.
  5. It's for the WWS MPA and I found out via e-mail.
  6. I'm in! Although I'm kind of leaning toward's Pardee RAND's PhD program (rather than the WWS MPA). So if you've been waitlisted there's a decent chance I'll be giving up my spot.
  7. Hi all, I know we are supposed to hear back from PRGS this week, but I haven't received anything yet. I know its only Tuesday, but I'm antsy and I was wondering if anyone has received a decision from them. Thanks in advance.
  8. I commute via bike and walking shoes rather than car, so I defer to you on traffic in Santa Monica : )
  9. I love LA. I lived in Chicago for 6 years before moving here, and I prefer LA. However, I've been lucky because I live and work in Santa Monica, which means no traffic and 70 degree sunny weather year-round. Its a great place if you enjoy hiking, surfing, and/or other outdoor activities. There are also a lot of nice art museums and galleries, restaurants, places to see live comedy and music, etc. Chicago has LA beat on transportation and book stores, but I'm really glad to be here.
  10. I only applied to three schools - Princeton's WWS, USC, and the PhD program at RAND. (I haven't heard back from the other two schools yet.) I'd like to stay in LA, since my husband really enjoys his job here. Also, I got a full tuition scholarship from USC. In other words, USC is a very appealing option for me.
  11. I also got my acceptance/scholarship letter from USC, and I'm thrilled. I'm looking forward to the Dean's Merit event and might even try to sit in on some classes before that since I live in L.A.
  12. Hi all, I was wondering if anyone knows what types of jobs graduates of USC's MPP program take after graduation. I'm specifically interested in domestic public sector consulting or international development. Thanks in advance.
  13. Thanks for making yourself available for questions. What is your impression regarding job prospects for USC Price graduates? I know this probably varies by policy focus, but what are some of the positions that recent graduates have taken? Do you know if graduates have been happy with the jobs they landed?
  14. Does anyone have any acquaintances, friends, or family who obtained an MPP, MPA, or Phd in public policy and are now working in the policy field? If so, does your friend/family member seem satisfied with their career choice? I know the policy field is a very broad field and I'm sure job satisfaction varies, but I'm just trying to get a general sense of morale. Thanks in advance for any input.
  15. Hi all: If you received a full-ride to USC MPP program or were admitted to PRGS, would you mind sharing your GPA/GRE scores/work experience? Thanks in advance.
  16. Is anyone aware of whether UCLA or USC offer any full-tuition + living stipend fellowships for their MPP/MPA programs? (I know how greedy this sounds, but I'm just curious.) Thanks in advance for any input!
  17. Hi Xoan, I was searching this message board for information about MPA/MPP programs and I found your post. It was almost eerie reading it, because I am also an attorney (with approximately 5 years of experience under my belt) and I'm also looking to get into an MPA/MPP program to break into journalism. I'm interested in writing on international relations and human rights-related topics. Would you mind sharing what programs you've found? Thanks!
  18. Does anyone know how long the final State Department clearance process takes (after the host country has made their selections)? Also, does anyone know what the State Department clearance process entails? Thanks in advance.
  19. If you could put me in contact with the current EU Fulbright, I would really appreciate it. I contacted Rachel Holskin today, and she told me that the EU has already made their decisions, but that they are still awaiting the final FSB selection. I was wondering if the current EU Fulbright might know how long it takes for the final FSB decision to be made after the EU makes its selection. If I am fortunate enough to be awarded the grant, I would love to talk to a current EU Fulbright about their experience. Thanks!
  20. Did anyone else apply for an EU Fulbright?
  21. Walter Jackson is the Program Manager of U.S. Student Programs at the IIE. I am an applicant.
  22. I sent an e-mail to Walter Jackson, and he said results of round 1 will be e-mailed to us on Friday.
