  1. There are some PhD/JD programs.
  2. What a remarkable conclusion to your application process.
  3. But..but..."cohort is set".
  4. I am a little disappointed, APGradApplicant; I thought, following AFU's post, that you would be notified at 11:59:59 EST. Congratulations on getting in.
  5. I have heard dubious things, but since you are "already attending", at what I infer to be Columbia, I will take you at your word.
  6. Columbia had a very difficult time handling files this season. One poster's file was not even reviewed. I would phone tomorrow and ask for a direct answer -- your acceptance could be sitting there with collected dust.
  7. Anyone still waiting to make a decision? I gather at least two prominent members (APGradApplicant and someoneoutthere) are still deliberating/in negotiations at this late hour.
  8. University of Chicago. Grammar correction FAIL.
  9. Down the home stretch! It's been fun (for most)!
  10. I'm probably going to offend someone by saying this, but given rough comparability between KSU and Hawaii, I would much rather spend the better part of my twenties in Honolulu, HI, than Manhattan, KS.
  11. You are still rejected unless the department makes an exception. Individual professors may not unilaterally admit students.
  12. There are worse things than waiting for 4/15. You could be this guy:
  13. Phone them tomorrow and use this line:
  14. If I recall correctly, you were forced into insomnia one night waiting for UCSD's next day decision. I predict the same will happen a week from today -- yes, I predict this will be up in the air until the very (hopefully not bitter) end.
  15. A very real possibility at this point in the game: what do programs that have midnight deadlines for next Thursday do about waitlistees if admits don't accept? Would they all be rejected next Friday? Can acceptances still be emailed out after 4/15? If so, how long do people then have to deliberate?
  16. This waiting is driving me up the wall....especially at one school where admits were notified in late January. Yes, that's right...almost three months ago... it must be fun being behind you in the checkout line. Don't you want things resolved? Go ahead and decline, you will feel all warm inside. The relationship between you and your graduate applications needs closure. "Each indecision brings its own delays and days are lost lamenting over lost days." /end gripe
  17. Anyone willing to claim the Harvard admit?
  18. Any schools not yet circulated decisions or does Brandeis get the door prize? If so, good luck in this, the next to final week.
  19. This would indeed be Shakespearean, but to my knowledge somewhereouthere has been discreet, and so no one will know.
  20. As I have said before, you are young and seemingly independent. Enjoy a year or two in New Haven and back your way into Princeton or Harvard. Not sure Chicago is the best place for a comparativist.
  21. So the people who wrote your recommendations may have rejected you? I imagine that will make for an uncomfortable rest of the semester. Do you think your lack of success warns against people joining up in their MA program?
  22. NSSR would be cheaper, but Levy can get you into a top program (except maybe Chicago, for various reasons).
  23. You first.
  24. Or, you could be a perfectly capable applicant caught in the crosshairs of a hard year in a hard subfield. Grad school is mostly about hard work and very little about innate intelligence.
