  1. Thanks szabo! I am an international graduate student and will be starting OSU in Fall 2016. Would you mind if I PM you with some of my questions?
  2. Yes, this GTA is a 10 hour/week responsibility and will pay for my tuition and other student fees only. I always thought it to be a 20 hr/week + salary in addition to the tuition waiver but that's what it is.
  3. Thanks. Sounds not too great then. I am already in oil and gas for last eight years, it's just that I want to take it a step up in terms of career growth. Unfortunately, I do not have any other (fully/partially) acceptance yet and I can not even think of paying an out-of-state/international fee otherwise. Anyway, good to know and this might help me make my decision.
  4. Has anyone studied/visited UL Lafayette? How good (or not) is their MS Geoscience program? I have received a tuition waiver (with a GTA) but will have to manage my own living expenses. I am waiting out on other universities but also have to let ULL know my decision by 15th April. I want to be absolutely clear before I say yes since it would mean I leave my current job which is frustrating but is already in one of the oil and gas super-majors.
  5. Most of their decisions are out with few exception. This is what I heard back last week. What remains might either be a waitlist or blanket rejection that comes out very deep in the year.
  6. With a GPA of about 3.2-3.3 and GRE score of 323 ( V-155, Q-168, AWA-4) can you suggest a few safe schools for an international candidate in Petroleum engineering? I have a BS in mining engineering (with a lot of engineering, maths and geology) and about 6 years for experience in oil and gas industry. UT, A&M and CSM are all good (and I am applying) but I want to apply to a couple of safe schools as well since funding is going to be very important for me and I certainly want to start this year.
  7. Me too. I wrote to Rice today so expecting a rejection. UH has a mysterious silence all over.
  8. Yeah! Just got mine, it was certain by now yet hurts all over again.
  9. Not yet, waiting. Did you contacted a POI? And did they responded?
  10. What is it about UH this year by the way? I don't see anyone posting?
  11. Congrats! Glad to see you getting it. All the best!
  12. I believe people have been accepted and thus less active. On the other hand some of us like me have come to peace with the bitter fact for the year. There aren't many results coming out recently anyway.
  13. I don't see any harm if you could secure a TA position. I'll take it any day. Good luck.
  14. It's alright! I guess it's not my year. And yes, best of luck to you. Hope you hear good things, soon.
  15. Yes, I have. Anyway, what else I have to do. I am not going to a school this year. By the way, for those interested - Just got a rejection from Oklahoma University.
  16. I wish I do. In fact I wrote to my POI as well as graduate assistant 10-12 days back and none of them replied. And they have been really good at replying I don't really want to bug my POI, but I have mailed the graduate assistant again yesterday and yet to hear from her.
  17. If anyone from oil&gas is interested http://online.stanford.edu/course/reservoir-geomechanics
  18. Looking by the previous years results, OSU/OU will start sending invites late in March. Good luck to both of us.
  19. I didn't mean to come that way. I just meant that it is good that you are hearing. I have absolute nothing from 5 places. 1 rejection and a 2nd round hopeful at UT Austin (standard one) is all I got yet. Don't know what they are upto. I don't think my application is that bad. Or may be it is.
  20. Good. When is someone going to mail me, I wonder.
  21. Did you contacted him or did he mailed you?
