  1. I have my bachelor's in something completely unrelated to the field of SLP and I'm in a grad program! However, I have worked in special education and have a good amount of volunteer experience. Just show schools the passion you now have for this career! Good luck!
  2. Yesterday I received an email from PDX letting me know that I didn't make the cut. I was in the top tier so I thought I had a chance. Fortunately I have an opportunity elsewhere but this was a let down.
  3. SFSU San Francisco State University CD Master's Program Class of 2017 Closed FB group https://www.facebook.com/groups/801304453293861/
  4. I agree! The post by @jmk made me sooo excited for the program at SFSU.
  5. I received an email that said I was "recommended for admission" if I fulfilled certain terms such as fingerprints. Seemed like an odd way to send out a letter of acceptance, but I think I'm in. Anyone else get this email?
  6. I was accepted here as well and I'm also concerned about the tuition. But- the SLP at the school where I went to NAU for her M.S. and it made her a competent clinician and she is a wonderful SLP. I've also heard great things about Flagstaff, I'd be happy to attend.
  7. I haven't heard back either. It was a difficult interview to gauge because it was a group interview. The scenario we were given seemed so black and white, so we all agreed... I want to hear back!
  8. Me too! I'm so relieved! Congrats to us!
  9. So true! I hope I don't have to do this all over again next year.
  10. I got rejected from them as well! When I read it I thought, "this HAS to be a mistake" because the interview went so well (or so I thought), but I'm sure so many of us feel this way. It's an emotional roller coaster.
  11. I would choose school B, because you will not have to work giving you more time to focus on your grad coursework. That seems like an IDEAL set up. So if its not your dream school, maybe it can become it?! Best of luck! Also, can I ask you how you went about receiving funding for these programs?
  12. I'll be at the interview for SFSU on Monday. That plane ticket was pricey, but this whole endeavor has been. I'm excited and nervous!
  13. Hilarious! I keep checking my email on my phone at work and my co-workers probably think I'm addicted to candy crush or something.
  14. I don't know what they will ask, but I will be at the interview. I too find these group interviews a bit stressful! Good luck to us both.
  15. I have heard they quiz on basic speech anatomy and phonetics. Just brush up on your coursework and you'll do fine. And if you can't answer the question under pressure (which is totally normal!) then just say you will need to re-visit the material. They are interested in you already, just show them your passion for the field!
  16. I'm not exactly sure whether they invite a large percentage or not, but I do know if they interview you and you do well, you have a good chance of getting in. Try to be comfortable and show your personality. Brush up on your prereqs, maybe read some ASHA articles and then relax! They are already interested in having you in their cohort- just do your best!
  17. Hello! A friend of mine last year was interviewed for CSUSM and her advice to me was be VERY prepared. Know basic speech anatomy, phonetics etc, and be prepared to be tested on this. What they are really looked for though is your interpersonal skills, so just do your best, take a deep breath and smile. Schools choose to interview applicants with the requirements they are looking for, they just want to know you before being accepted into their cohort.
