  1. Looking for out-of-state schools that offer in-state tution for out-of-state students and/or provide excellent funding opportunities that are more than 5,000 a year through either scholarships, assistantships or fellowships? Help me
  2. What are the cheap out-of-state programs that are less competive? (under 35K total)
  3. Don't know about Galludet. But, Loyola's tuition is 54K total :/ Good program though.
  4. Out-of-state tution, JMU. Family couldn't help pay all of a sudden. Don't go there out-of-state.
  5. Hi everyone, Thought I make a group of accepted and waitlisted students. Anyone accepted trying to decide if they are going to attend? Why are you leaning towards Loyola or are have you decided elsewhere? What other programs have you been accepted too? I'm currently trying to decide if I should keep myself on the waitlist...anyone else in the same boat? Anyone taken themselves off the waitlist?
  6. The two that I know are accept students in the Spring are: Eastern New Mexico University (Hybrid program, 4 months on campus, rest Online) University of South Dakota
  7. I've been waitlsted as well. Emilie sent an e-mail out today stating that they do not officially rank students on the waitlist. I think there is a good chance of acceptance off the waitlist. It is a very expensive school, most people looking to go in state have also recieved acceptances from Towson and UMD, so there deciding between the three. I also saw a handful of waitlisted folks get admitted last year on the admission results forum. They were still notifying students of acceptance at the end of May last year! Keep your hopes up! Also, you recieved your letter earlier than I did by like two weeks!! That could mean your ahead of me on the waitlist or you applied early.
  8. There are very few, but some grad programs that have spring and summer admissions. I can't find my Spring admittance list :/ but, I have some for summer... Summer: Florida State- deadline 11/15 University of Wisconsn Eau Claire-11/1 University of South Carolina-1/1 University of Southern Mississippi-2/2 University of Kentucky-2/1 University of Central Oklahoma-2/1
  9. Check the program websites first! Most schools post averages for each class! Will save you tons of time!
  10. Wish, I could apply to ENMU. Check with Trish Mcguire, Director of Distance Education to see if ENMU is authorized to serve students in your state Or else you are wasting your time. They do not currently serve students in MARYLAND
  11. Eastern New Mexico University is a hybrid program (4 months on campus and the rest online), 25K for two year part time, or if you take 6 or less credit hours a semester you can complete it 3 years and only pay 12K
  12. Hi, I'm interested in applying to this school for Fall 2016. Anyone apply for 2015 and get accepted want to share their extracurricular, experience, Scores, grades? If you're a current student, how's clinical placements off campus? Online classes? Professors? What's the 2-3 week on campus experience like?
  13. Not all of the information for schools are updated. Especially GRE scores, GPA, number of applicants, acceptances. The average GRE scores and GPA accepted goes up every year for every school. Best bet is looking for those updated numbers on each programs website or calling to ask. I called Eastern New Mexico University and their Acceptance rate was off by 40%!!!!!ASHA said they accept 56% or applicants. Not the case anymore. Do this research and check the admission results board for the past two years of admissions and look at those that have posted their GPA and GRE scores. This will save you time and money
  14. There are programs that start in Spring and Summer and here is a full list to online entire degree programs! http://www.asha.org/edfind/results.aspx?DE=ENTIREDEGREE Everything happens for a reason!
  15. I'm also looking into both full time and part time Online and hybrid programs for next year. Here is the link to ASHA's site for entire degree Online programs! http://www.asha.org/edfind/results.aspx?DE=ENTIREDEGREE Unfortunately, you have to read each programs information on their website carefully as some cohorts are only start every odd year, some require 4 months on campus. Etc. SOME ARE NOT AUTHORIZED TO SERVE YOU IN YOUR STATE OF RESIDENCY. IF YOU LIVE IN MARYLAND YOU WILL RUN ACROSS THIS A LOT. IT'S AWFUL. YOU WILL NEED TO CONFERENCE WITH EACH SCHOOL NO MATTER WHERE YOU LIVE TO CONFIRM THEY SERVE THE STATE YOU RESIDE IN. From my research, Eastern New Mexico is the cheapest at 221 a credit hour if you take 6 or less credits. They are accredited and ranked 169. Here are my top picks: University of Northern Colorado Ranked #84 Fall Admission Part time, 3 years 2-3 week requirement on campus 33K total program cost Eastern New Mexico University #169 Spring Summer and Fall Admission Part time or full time 4 month on campus requirememt 12K total part time cost, 25K total Full time cost OTHER programs: Western Kentucky, California State University Northbridge, and Wisconsin Eau Claire
  16. Hi, I live in MD and attended their open house. One of the Audiology professors and a former SLP student led the session. Unfortunately, they are a bit too prideful. They went on and on about the prestigious research. They are absolutely, positively 100% research based. They explained how they teach you the theories and then throw you in the clinical to apply the theory and research. Definitely an interesting way of teaching. They will prepare you for critical thinking required in real practice. Clinical placements are at top hospitals and other facilities. The buildings are old. Inside and out. They seem to have all that the students need though. There is an on campus preschool. They completely discourage a full time grad assistantship. Very difficult to get into this school. I'm seeing people with 3.88 average GPA and GRE Verbal scores in 160s. Hope this helps
  17. My mentor has explained that once you get into the SLP field you can apply for second SLP jobs that are PRN (as needed). The medical field employs these and they can work for up to $90 an hour in some areas!!! The pay is high. Need is high. The shifts are normally on weekends and holidays, but it's a good way to earn extra money to pay down the loans. I have 100K in undergraduate debt. My monthly payments are 1,000 a month. I'm trying to get into a school less than 35,000 for total program. If I take out all loans for that amount my monthly payments will be less than 400 a month. 1400 is a lot a month. There are people who make it work. However,it's best to limit your debt as much as you can!!!! Choose the 30K over 57K program. As long as you go to a program that is accredited, has excellent job placement rates and Praxis pass rates, you'll be coming out making 60,000 to start. Higher depending on placement. Eastern New Mexico University charges in-state Tution to students who take less than 6 credits a semester. You'd get your masters in 3 years for only 12K!! Only kicker is have to complete on campus clinical for 4 months. Ive heavily researched this school and that's one of the only negatives I've found.
  18. I'm interested in applying to ENMU in the Spring? I have heard the professors have low ratings in the speech program? Has anyone else heard this? What are the positives? Negatives? Also, have you been in touch with any alumni that can offer information about their experience including out of state clinical and job placement?
